What do you guys use for tables? I used to play on an old pool table until it broke. Lately I have been out looking for a suitable table, but have not been experiencing any luck in my endeavor. I am looking for a small to medium table, 4 ½ by 6 feet or larger, that can fold into itself for easy storage. I want something that I can put aside against a wall or even store in a fairly large closet. I been to hardware stores, large all-purpose stores, furniture stores, and have generally been keeping an eye out for my ideal table, but haven’t seen anything that even comes close to meeting my needs.
What do you guys use for your gaming surface? And does anyone have any idea where I can find the kind of table(s) I am looking for.

I have a few of these kicking around, but I don't use them that much at the moment. They're just gathering dust right now until I get back into the actual gaming a bit more.

I use two 2'x4' tables that I put together and cover with a green flocked battlemat. I'm considering adding a third table - especially considering they were only $20 at Costco.
When not gaming, I use one of them as my painting table and the other for solitaire board games (Red November, Arkham Horror, etc.).
We usually use 2 wallpaper pasting tables with green felt on, then if we want a bigger board we put mdf modelling boards over the top. We have just recently got a realm of battle board but not got it painted and up and running yet.

I built mine (4 x 8) with storage underneath, then covered it with felt. Works pretty well but it takes up quite a bit of room & unless you play often, and at home, I'd probably go for something a bit more modular.

I use two 30"x6' folding tables from walmart and place a 4'x6' foam table from http://www.war-zone.com/ on top.
The folding tables are only 30"x36"x4" each stored and the foam table folds to 2'x4'x6".
All I need is a small part of a closet to keep it in.
edit---
The folding tables ran about 30 each and I think the tabletop was only 70 when I bought it 5+ years ago. Price on that is up I am sure.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why everyone is so on the nuts of that Sultan table. It's just dumb for wargaming. Not that it's all that great for anything else, either.

Ultimate wargaming icon of excess? I don't see a beer tap or stripper pole anywhere. Not to mention the complete lack of any bewbs at all...
Where's the embedded ethernet and PC? That thing isn't even wired. It's just a bunch of drawers with a fat price tag.
Sorry. That thing is WAY overrated and nowhere near worth a fraction of that cost, let alone the actual cost.

Yes, that is generally what I would classify as 'excess.'

A bunch of boards and tables that come to somewhere in the region of 7 x 5 that lives in my basement. So my kids can't mess with the models in a big game that we wanna play over a couple of days.
Check out ping pong tables at your local discount store. They are the right size, fold up, and some are even on wheels. You'll probably have to take the net off though.
If you buy a pingpong table check it will carry the weight of a lot of metal and wargames leaning on the edge. They are not usually built for major structural strength.
Snurl: Most pingpong tables i've seen have removeable nets that clamp onto the side... shouldnt be too hard.
When i USED to game (the few times i did)
Pingpong table, and a workbench in dad's garage that made a good spot for placing used/dead models and rulebooks ect, had a workbench on one side and a set of shelves on the other side of the garage. Pingpong table went in the middle, worked perfectly so each general had thier own space to put stuff.

I have two simple trestle tables that when put together are 5X6. I have a table cloth that is exactly 4' wide, so that works. I also have a piece of MDF that's 4X8, and I just put that on another table. Easy.

Sorry, Ghidorah. There's no stripper pole because the only ones stripping would be
male.

I am going to check out the local ping-pong tables. Saw horses are a good idea based on my needs but I would live in mortal terror of some idiot knocking it over with my entire army and terrain on it - I don't want to stand in a federal court as my own public defender pleading morally justified homicide.

I use a folding 1800x750 trestle table, and three 4x2 boards on top (modular table). Terrain and whatnot goes on top of this. Best option for me for storage.
Club uses a choice of 6x4 boards on similar tables, 2 4x3 boards or 4x2 boards like mine.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

If you use carriage bolts and thumbscrews, you could build a frame from 2X4's that would be sturdy that you could put together before the guys come and then take it down the next day. Lay a 4X6 or two 4X3's or 4X4's on top of it and use a game mat.
One of our guys used 2X4 sheets of Masonite and mounted them onto a 2X2 framework and we lay them on top of some 2X2's on top of my dining room table.
One of the other guys scrounged some folding table legs from the landfill he worked at and mounted a 4X6 sheet of plywood on top that we set up in the living room over my coffee table. Harborfreight and other web sites and stores sell folding table leg kits.
You can mount a sheet of plywood on top of wooden sawhorses with carriage bolts and thumbscrews or just drywall screws to make them sturdy enough to survive a game. Take the fasteners out and stow it away.
We mostly play on my permanent 4X8 table made of a simple framework of 2X4's with shelves underneath. The guy that made the 2X4 sheets made two boards that are 4X6 so we can set up two more tables or use them both on top of my permanent table to set up a 6X8 table. He's working on a matching 2X6 leaf to make the surface 6X10 for even bigger Apoc games.
I also have a 3X6 folding plastic table that I'm going to build stilts for so we can bridge it to the permanent table to make an insane 6X11 or 6X13 table. The cool thing is, we can set up on a Friday and finish on Saturday or Sunday. I've been lazy and left terrain set up for two weeks straight without it being disturbed. The cat is too old to fool around with it and the kids are old enough to know better.
I have plastic storage shelves set up for terrain and some of the guys' things so they don't have to transport them all the time.
I have room for four tables in the house, but we've only run three at a time a couple of times. The bitter sweetness of being divorced. You can do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't involve a woman.

If i'm not at a gaming club or a store, I use masking tape to cordon off a 6' by 4' area on the floor. that being said, i'm pretty new to the game so i havn't quite invested in a table yet. (the way the economy is i've already spent too much on this hobby XD)
I have a 4x8 sheet of heavy plywood, and some sawhorses under it. I was lucky enough to get a free cork bulletin board of the same size to go ontop. It works perfectly, and best of all when Im not playing, I can take it apart and stand it against the wall for space.
I used to play on a pool table but always found it to be smaller then what I needed

Eh, you can always use the materials to build a shanty hut to live in if you lose your house. I'm pretty sure the miniatures will make a cheery fire.
I found some nice fold out tables at staples of all places
With 5’ by 28” you need two to make a 5’ by 4 ½’ table or with three you can make a 5’ by 7’ for larger games. Each table cost 50 dollars.
They are easy to store and transport (I had no problem getting them in and out of my car) and are sturdy enough to stand up to the occasional jackassery that comes with the game. They only downside is finding out what to do with the crevices that forms when put the tables next to each other, I was going to use a piece of broad tape but it seems a bit wasteful and might gunk up the table – anyone have a better idea?
put a thin board down over it? or use a cover mat, those look like the same down at the club i play at and a cover usually covers most of the gap unless its a heavy model.
other option is get some thin card to just cover the gap.
