Fairly simple too solve the small rounded edges, as the two tables being the base, simple get 2 sheets of wood, roughly the same dimensions and the boards and tape them up using duck tape, it can then fold into two and then you can also paint the wood to your gaming board theme.

I have my basement converted into a "man cave" with two 6'x4' tables, two 4'x4' and an 8'x4' table. Here is a pic of part of it:

My father and I built the tables for my FLGS.
2 GW Grass matt tables
1 Snow/gass table
1 Desert table
1 Desert/Grass table
1 City table
Each table has folding adjustable legs, a ledge to stop dice from flying off, and 1/2 way markers for easy set up.
You can see them in this gallery:

Wait i thought if you have that much money you can afford regular strippers in the background all the time.

The background? Why on earth would you have a table like that, complete with a stripper pole... and put it in the background (assuming no male pole-dancers)?
What is the point of the pole if it is not ON your table?

Wouldn't she knock over the models then. And besides I meant like in the background all the time. You know like when watching the TV or eating. I feel like they would have to be in the background otherwise I could never get any work done.

Depending on how you store your terrain currently, gorrila racks with a 4x6 wood, MDF, or whatever kind of tabletop make a good "table" with shelving underneath. The FLGS does this to allow places for extra terrain to be stored, fig cases can be put underneath, model casualties can be placed on the shelf so as to not to have huge dead piles on corners of the tables etc.
You could leave the shelves against the wall with the table top against the wall when not in use, and pull out the shelves turn them sideways and place tabletop on them to create instant gaming table.

I had previously built the Drunk Dwarves tables. We found those to be a bit to ungainly, so I've recently been re-building new tables using minimalistic material, and allowing me to swap out the gaming surfaces. Basically I build a frame using 1x3 and quarter-round trim on the edges for a nice look. 2x4 frames cross the bottom, and we attach 1/8" masonite to the 2x4. Then we attache folding table legs (usually available at any local hardware store). Then I put on 1'x4' 'gaming accessory' holders on the table ends--somewhere to put dice, books, dead minis, etc. B/c of the foldable table legs, it's easy to fold them up and move them quickly. I've built 3 so far. They cost about $120 to build.

If you have the room in your house for a fixed table then i have a few ideas
most pubs / clubs will throw out old pool tables, if you cant find one from those then check the papers, they are allways for sale.
with a little work you can have a solid table that doesent rock or get knocked, and it looks great
i picked up an old pool table for £50 last month, allthough i havent got around to starting it yet.

Loving the information in this topic, i'm on the look out for a table to go in an apartment towards the end of the year. the only thing is lack of space and i was torn on if there is room in the sitting room type thing, or if i would beable to have the table in the 2nd bedroom. By this i mean have some sort of tables which can be put over the bed or some wooden casing on a bed which can be put down to make a hard playing surface.
Any other suggestions?

you need to just make your own modular table. it takes up very little space, can be stored in a closet, and quick to assemble and disassemble.

I don't use a table, i use 6 2' by 2' boards on the floor. if i was to use a table I would probably make my own. Three sheets of MDF, some ready made chiar legs from a hardware store and you are practically done. If you were skilled enough you could probably make the legs hinge as well for not much more.
