Just a suggestion, pic up a set of cheap pastels at the art store. Scraping or sanding them into powder, is an awful lot cheaper than Mig Powders. I would keep the Mig for special.
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying the show.
As for the pastels, you're absolutely right. In fact, the winter effects on the Equalizer, and desert dust effects on the HMTT, Armadillo, and Armored Car, were all done with crushed up kid's sidewalk chalk. But I do need to expand my selection of make-do "weathering powders" (pastel chalks). I just use the Mars Dust from MiG's fantasy powders because of the look I'm going for on certain vehicles for that particular army (tropical red clay mud and dust). I also limit my use of Citadel Valhallan Blizzard to the smaller winter army vehicles, using the white chalk for the larger vehicles, in order to save money.
By all means, keep that advice coming. I can always use helpful tips and money saving advice.
Now, for the update.......
I went ahead and cut the waterslide transfers I wanted for the Hummer. Don't mind the two figures in the picture. It was just something I was monkeying around with, unrelated to the HMTT Project.
Then on to more detail painting.................
I took a side trip back to the Armadillo ADV. I experimented with lead pencils, and then coloring pencils, in an attempt to simulate carbon leftovers, on the rear of the launch tubes. It didn't work out. So, it'll be either weathering powders or dark chalk for this one. It's the only thing holding up the final matte coat that will complete this project.
Back to the HMTT Project, I got the detailing done. Then, I spot varnished the vehicle with 'Ardcoat, applied the decals, and sealed them in with more 'Ardcoat. I ran into the issue of the chevrons on the front doors not being dark enough against the Krylon River Rock tan. So, I had to paint the front doors with a dark color (Tamiya Flat Brown, in this case), and outline the chevron transfers with Citadel Zandri Dust, in order to make them stand out.
I also added the stowed tarp, and finished painting it and the wires holding it down.
I also started monkeying around with the old Fisher-Price ambulance. I suspect that this will be a fairly easy project.
Finally for tonight, the desert dust effects, using crushed up kid's sidewalk chalk:
On this particular project, I skipped the wash, dry brushing, and chipping effects. The next step will be a light coat of Krylon Matte, and it will be finished. Then, I can get back to the H.I.S.S. and Gundam Sandrock.
And on that note, that's it for tonight's update. There will be more to come, folks....................

Okay, folks. I'm back after a week without a computer, after my machine took a giant dump and died. But I'm back online and ready for action.
And as a result, this is gonna be a huge ass update post. So, let's get cracking here......
First the H.I.S.S. tank project.
I went ahead and ran a dry brush over the vehicle, using Necron Compound. Then, it was on to the Vallejo washes, with dark pin washing and a general white wash.
I also wanted to point out why I made the choice of numbers that I did on the nose of the vehicle. The font used for the "789" was basically the same as the original Cobra "788", just smaller. I thought it would be cool to toss in a nod to the vehicle's origins.
Pics for your viewing enjoyment:
Next, I made a paste out of white kid's sidewalk chalk, Tamiya flat white, and some Elmer's white school glue. I then applied it to the lower hull, around the main drive assembly.
Some pics for y'all:
Next up was some Citadel Valhallan Blizzard on the upper hull.
And finally, a coat of Krylon clear glaze to round it all out. The H.I.S.S. Project is now finished. Pics:
Group shot with the other winter vehicles, including the two WIPs:
Next is the M47/M48 Light Scout Tank Project...............
In these pics, the camo pattern is done and I started on the details. Photos:
I broke out the ol' Pulverizer in order to do some repairs on it. It's in the near-future line-up, so I went ahead an fixed the broken pieces with Gorilla glue.
Back to the M47/M48, I finished the detailing, varnishing, transfer application, and decal sealing:
Next was the chipping effects, using a mix of dollar store black acrylic and Tamiya flat brown for the light areas, and Runefang Steel for the dark areas.
Pics:
Next is the ashen mud effects on the lower hull, using a mix of Elmer's white school glue and Forge World grey ash weathering powders. I also applied a dark Vallejo wash to the large stowage pack.
Pictures:
A final coat of Krylon #1311 matte in a rattle can, and another project is done. Images of the finished product:
And a group shot with the other completed vehicles in this particular army:
On to the second T-40 Light Tank (this one a flamer variant), I completed the first layer on the camo pattern:
Second layer on the camo pattern:
SUPPLY DROP. I ran out of Gorilla glue and needed to restock my supply of super glue:
On to the Gundam Sandrock, here are pics of progress made on two separate days.
As of 7/26/2017:
As of 7/28/2017:
And finally, I started painting on the camo for the Polar Battle Bear.
Pic:
Well, folks. I hope you enjoy.
More to come..............

I love your idea for a terrain piece as a display board, especially for pictures. The only thing keeping me from doing it right now is a lack of space, and a safe storage space for the terrain piece (I have a cat. A typical, nosy cat. ).
As for the projects themselves, the Polar Battle Bear is nearly done. Pics of the progress so far:
I really need to learn to put transfers on straighter. And not to be so heavy handed (I broke part of the connection piece for the front skis that I fixed some time back, and had to do a hasty repair. That's why they look a little out of alignment).
Anyway,, more to come soon.

Sov style tank done? Check!
Hiss Tank done? Check!
I see what you meant about the decals, but the 36 aligned with the upper glacis plate angle is good looking. No worries. looks like the factory belted her out just in time to drive to battle.

Great progress on all the tanks. hiss tank looks great.
Also just FYI warlordgames.com is having a tank sale shameless plug. Also previewing their King Tiger kit coming out in September I believe.
If you order, make sure to sign in as being British and using £ since it's so weak right now. I ordered my gates of Antares stuff from them and it took about 2 weeks to get, but if it's over £50 then shipping is free and with the exchange rate that most credit/debit cards are doing you save a ton.

As for the sale, I took a look. I especially like the Konflikt '47 stuff. Some of the smaller Bolt Action vehicle pieces are actually cheaper than their scale plastic counterparts! I look forward to your review on the Tiger, Theo.
Here is some more finds for future work:
The Komatsu LAV's progress so far. Base coated it by hand and started on the camo:
The work so far on the Sdkfz.231 6-Rad. I used a piece of sprue to make an adjustable red dot sight for a G.I. Joe XM-3 Laser Rifle, standing in for a stowed heavy anti-material las rifle:

Thanks, brah.
I applied a base coat with Krylon on the 231 and started on the camo.
Twosie shot with the "XM800", which will serve as this squadron's command vehicle.
The Komatsu is getting closer to completion.
On the subject of the LAV, here is a heads up for those following this thread.
The finished detailing may will likely be the final pics I post of this particular vehicle in the gallery, or in this thread. The same for the next two planned for this squadron. And here is why.....
I abhor waste. Especially of something that costs money. Since I model (if you can call it that ) on a budget to keep form going hog wild, EVERYTHING that can be used will be used. Chalk it up to the way I was raised, in a different time and place than most whippersnappers nowadays.
That is especially true of transfers, waterslide or dry. I like to mix and match to add my own flavor to each vehicle and force. This is a fantasy setting, after all.
I have several spare transfers left over from the Tamiya kits. I decided to use the emblem of Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps as a squadron emblem. Kinda appropriate since Rommel was one of the foremost combined arms commanders of his day, and these LAVs will be part of such a mechanized army I'm putting together. They really wouldn't be too noticeable on a larger vehicle, but these LAVs I'm using are kinda tiny at 1/48 scale. And the Panzer II transfers are for 1/35 scale vehicles. So, it will be a bit more noteworthy.
The problem is that the emblem of Rommel's Afrika Korps is a palm tree on top of a small swastika. It's no big deal to me, personally, since it's just another "historical" military emblem used by the Wehrmacht. But based on what I've seen in past threads, and in the comments section of the gallery, I don't feel like dealing with the sheer, raw butthurt over the emblem because of the swastika, or give any potential trolls the opening to disrupt the gallery comments or to up this thread. Nor do I want to create any bad blood with the folks in the PM sections of this site that I tend to get along with.
So, when I'm done with this LAV, and future LAV's in this squadron. I'll give you a guys a heads up. If you want to see the finished product, I'll PM some pics to you.
Much thanks in advance.
And as always, more to come...............

A short update. Nothing much to report.
Got another kit in, and some Forge World photo-etched Aquilas.
Started the second HMTT/Hummer H2 project.
And I did a little more work on the Ambulance:
Before I do anymore painting, I'm have to wait for my new brushes to come in from Hobbylinc. And I'm close to finishing the Komatsu LAV (just have to paint the vehicle commander and pintel mounted weapon). If you want to see the work so far, either here or via PM, post it here. I'll leave it up to popular vote, since the transfers are applied (see previous post)
That's it for now. More to come.
