A couple of nice looking but not really OMAGAWD111 clips from this forthcoming show can be seen here.

Promising enough premise I think, and it has a good cast too...... I'm quite chuffed to see the return of "Space Whore"... even if they have cut her hair for this.

Hope this works, there's a bit of a shortage of decent geek TV at the moment really.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Seems rather good,I hope it airs soon.

I have also noticed a lack of good "nerd" tv programs.I wish our local cable netwwork was still playing the "middle man" I loved that.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Is it an extension or a reenvisioning.

I liked V.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I remember how creepy it was when I was a kid watching it on television. After watching it again a couple of years ago I was not creeped out, but it was still kind of cool (they can peel their faces off). I hope the new show is good.

I watched an episode of this show when I was about 6, the aliens actually scarred the hell out me. Especially when one of them ate a hamster.

No that was just me. I was hungry.

Loved the first miniseries. One of those B movie things that tried to reach for more.

The sequel where they win was kind of meh. Wasn't there even a TV series for a bit?

Is this the music channel [V] that we have in Oz?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

No, cheese, I believe it's another re-imagining of old SF shows.

V. The one with lizard aliens who came promising advancement, and were revealed to really be here for our water - and foodstocks (and they found us tasty).

@Frazzled: Yes, there was a series. It ended with "The leader" arriving with a peace treaty (because the locals had beaten the stuffing out of them, and also because they had managed to create a hybrid 'bridge' between the species that survived). There was supposed to be a wedding between Elisabeth and the leader.

Michael Ironside was the reason I watched it (I was in High School). He's a dude. Just has a presence that adds 'gravitas' to most SF shows/movies.

The fuller trailer has been leaked and is online. YOu can see it, and the slightest glimpse of scales here.

Looking fairly promising.

There can be only one!

Seriously, I have no idea what you are talking about. They only made one movie, and no manufactured 'proof' shall sway my belief on this. Lalalalala I can't hear you.
There was a television series, and it may have had its own movie, but this is at best, a parallel story, and at worst, a vehicle for past-it rockers to showboat (Roger Daltrey, I'm looking at you.) - although these days, I think they do it on Sarah Connor chronicles.

On V: the series. Not even the addition of the grown up hybrid child Elisabeth was enough to make me watch the show if Ham wasn't in the episode.
Michael Ironside was the only thing that gave it "cred".

I wonder if they'll go for the aliens as nazis and resistance as jews thing the original had, or if they'll draw parallels to a different resistance movement... or perhaps take a wholly different angle.

From the few seconds we've seen it looks certain that there is going to be something in there about the media being complicit so that individual journalists can gain access. I doubt it'll be subtle, but it could be good.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
