I'm sitting here at work looking at some pictures from the summer of 69 and listening to the Grateful Dead. It's a great combo. Anyway, what decade would you currently like to live in? For me, it probably would be the 60's. Most of my favorite bands came out of that decade, I would have to loved be involved in the civil rights movement, and driving and old school beetle would be rad.

1950's. We just got done kicking the Nazi's butt, Rock and Roll is on its way up (along with lots of great music), and the women are total babes (I loved the hair, skirts, and glasses of the period). Playboy is launched, you can still go to a "real" diner, and in the worst case scenario I can meet up with Doc and Marty McFly and return to the future.

The question is, "Would we go back with knowledge from today?"

If so, I would go back to 1970 and invest heavily in Casio. Once the 80's rolled around I would switch my investment over to Microsoft. Then today I would be writing this email from my own personal island.

I agree with all of that. 50s would be sweet. Altho preferably not where I was brought up, because I'd probably be down a mine.

Yea it kind of depends. Are we talking same economic status, age et al?

90s. 1990's 1890s, 1790s they were all good. I remember them fondly.

Well my current status tends to lend itself to the 50's good life (i.e. White and middle class).

I would go back to '01. As in 0001. Because it would be awesome from a historical standpoint.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

No you wouldn't. Discovery of AIDs. Cold War still going, a recession harder than this one so far in the beginning. CGI barely started limiting access to cool sci fi movies (Alien exempted of course). Two words to instill terror

Well you know, sobriety has been optional since the day the music died (Bach). Its been downhill since for the old Frazzled.

The 80's and 90's anymore before that and my love of my White wife would have my swinging from a tree. Bada-BING!

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

ha ha nice

As for me, nothing beats the present. We have all the music of previous years only now I can fit it everything I'll ever like on a 32GB SDHC card and put it in a portable player. Almost all human knowledge is available at the touch of a button and a bit of clever googling and medical science has never been better. The days of space travel and personal robots creep closer, with virgin galactic for the former and numerous robotics projects for the latter. Dakka is also more popular than anytime in history too

Very nice thought. Sometimes we are in the middle of the best times and we don't even know it. Now that I think of it the 90's weren't too bad for us in the US. Of course I saw the 90's through the eyes of a teenage so maybe I didn't have the best perspective.

50's 60's or late 30's. I think I would like the 50's attitude and for the 60's I would like to go to Nam for the experience. As for the late 30's I could go and fly bombers with my Grandfather, or hang out in a kittyhawk with my great uncle!

Actually the rate of veterans is barely higher than that of the general population.

I don't know why people keep saying this. It was the roaring 20's not the 30's. The 30's were known as the dirty 30's.
