I'm sitting here at work looking at some pictures from the summer of 69 and listening to the Grateful Dead. It's a great combo. Anyway, what decade would you currently like to live in? For me, it probably would be the 60's. Most of my favorite bands came out of that decade, I would have to loved be involved in the civil rights movement, and driving and old school beetle would be rad.

The 70's, 2070's that is. And be in a Control Vault.

1950's. We just got done kicking the Nazi's butt, Rock and Roll is on its way up (along with lots of great music), and the women are total babes (I loved the hair, skirts, and glasses of the period). Playboy is launched, you can still go to a "real" diner, and in the worst case scenario I can meet up with Doc and Marty McFly and return to the future.

The question is, "Would we go back with knowledge from today?"

If so, I would go back to 1970 and invest heavily in Casio. Once the 80's rolled around I would switch my investment over to Microsoft. Then today I would be writing this email from my own personal island.

I agree with all of that. 50s would be sweet. Altho preferably not where I was brought up, because I'd probably be down a mine.

Well my current status tends to lend itself to the 50's good life (i.e. White and middle class).

I would go back to '01. As in 0001. Because it would be awesome from a historical standpoint.

As for me, nothing beats the present. We have all the music of previous years only now I can fit it everything I'll ever like on a 32GB SDHC card and put it in a portable player. Almost all human knowledge is available at the touch of a button and a bit of clever googling and medical science has never been better. The days of space travel and personal robots creep closer, with virgin galactic for the former and numerous robotics projects for the latter. Dakka is also more popular than anytime in history too

Even though my favorite years in American history are from 1985 to 1995 I'd still go back to the 50s.

Very nice thought. Sometimes we are in the middle of the best times and we don't even know it. Now that I think of it the 90's weren't too bad for us in the US. Of course I saw the 90's through the eyes of a teenage so maybe I didn't have the best perspective.
