Buy stuff occasionally like I've always done?

An extra 5 here and there really doesn't bother me. Although I'm gliding around off of profits from selling an army.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

I'm probably going to play Flames of War and Battletech. Unless I have a big change of heart, the only love GW is going to be getting from me any time in the foreseeable future will involve Battlefleet: Gothic or Mordheim. Luckily, I already have the minis.

Force myself to extract larger quantities of (abstract) utility from the new models I purchase in order to maintain my present cost/benefit ratio.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Truly words of wisdom, garret.

There's always other games, of course.

When I get home I can see lots of Star Wars miniatures in my future.

No hours of painting and converting?

Fun skirmish games?

Common models dirt cheap on Ebay?

Cool!

one thing i want to know though.
both at my lgs and 40k forums.
people have repeadtly said
"sometimes prices go down so it migh not be a big deal"
plaese say thats true.
but lets hope that with these ridiculous prices gw will realize that hey are making no business sense and will realize they are losing business to discount retailers
maybe ill kep up hope
but everything thats on my list hasnt went up yet thankfully

1. Dude...spell check...seriously. Also, just because it's the internet, doesn't mean you should not use proper English. I'm assuming by your info you are here in the States, if you are not, then don't worry about it.

2. Prices go up at GW every year and every year people complain. You have 2 options 1) Don't buy them and 2) Buy only what you really want and buy less or get them second hand.

3. This is a hobby and not an "essential to living" item. I want a Ferrari, but guess what, they are too expensive for me. You don't see me on Ferrari forums bitching that they should lower their price so I can buy one. Get over it.

Dude, it's almost never true. The last sort of decrease I can think of was when the Orks got repackaged in boxes of 10 instead of 16. The price per model actually went down a bit. There might have been a few other examples like that, but I don't know. It's certainly quite rare.

I highly doubt they will take a box that is a certain price, and then a year from now or whatever, take that same box, and lower the price. I don't think GW has ever done anything like that, as far as I can remember.

In that case I think you have bigger problems than your inability to spell or use punctuation.

I was reducing my 40k activities anyway. It doesn't harm me too much. I'm planning on buying for collecting purposes and won't need to resort to getting multiples so it won't be as expensive as before.

Why is the chaos space marine dreadnought almost the same price as a forge world one? Only an idiot would buy that pile of pewter scrap now.

Chaos boxed army same price though. Thanks goodness

doesn't look like things went up too much, only about $1-2 dollars for a plastic box, about 2-4%, not as bad as how gasoline goes up.

Not when the FW ones are so nice! I've got both the Death Guard Dreads and the World Eater one. Great looking things. The World Eater one just looks mean. Only reason to get the old one would be if it still had the big-ass Thunder Hammer, which is doesn't.

I went to the store the other day. I used to be able to get my favourite brand of frozen pizza for $2.50 each. (4 for 10) Now I find out that they raised their prices! They're now 3 for 12 - $4 each. That's like a 60% increase. On a staple food item.

I'm just going to stop eating in protest.

Some of the prices actually went down. The boxes for 20Euro are now 17,50.

My plan was to buy an entire Guard Company before the increase and I managed to do so. My Orks and Blood Ravens are complete... so no big deal. However, I'm a sucker for new material, so PlanetStrike will drain my wallet with little trouble. I only need... um... two or three of EVERYTHING!
