So, to sum it up - I like zombies. And there are some nice minis out there, so I'm gonna pick up a few. For Apocalypse, I'd like to include them in my Imperial Guard army (I'm gonna use the Plague Zombies Apocalypse Datasheet rules for them). But, I wanted a fluffy excuse too. So I wrote this:

Project Second Faith:
Since the Zombie Plague was first encountered by the Imperium, high-ranking individuals within the many Ordos and Adeptus' have tried to find a way to counter it. A new Ordos was even created, the Ordos Sepulturum. Many Inquisitors within this Ordos spend their lives fighting off a growing threat that cannot be stopped with normal means. Some, more radical individuals have over a longer period of time worked on a secret project, codenamed Faith. Originally, the project involved trying to control or dominate those already infected by the plague, but lack of funding never allowed the project to come to fruition. The project was cancelled. A few years later, an unknown acolyte stumbled across the research documents, and soon, a lowly inquisitor named Erech was conducting his own personal project into the matter. Hoping to earn respect and acknowledgement, he turned to more and more radical methods and experiments. After some years, Erech and his acolytes managed to duplicate the virus. They were now able to recreate the Zombie Plague. When he told his superiors about his achievements, telling them that he could now revive the dead so that they'd fight once more, even going as far as claiming that it perhaps could allow the Emperor to walk among them once more, Erech was executed for heresy. His acolytes were screened and tested, most of them being executed as well, but a few survived. Many years have gone since then, and all but one of the acolytes have died. Having been transferred to the Eastern Fringe, this acolyte, Amon, disappeared in a Warp Storm along with the ship he was travelling on. Mysteriously, he reappeared on the planet Heipas. When he found the planet's Imperial Garrison, Camp Harrock, after having wandered aimlessly around, he was amazed to hear that it was now many years before he disappeared.
When Camp Harrock only days later was suddenly overwhelmed by a Tyranid attack, Amon was stuck in the middle. Casualties were rising, and the Imperial Guard regiment, the 506th Airmobile Infantry Regiment, wasn't winning. Amon found the camp's Master Astropath, and for a week tried to contact his old master, Erech, who according to Amon's calculations, still should be alive. He finally got through, and was able to warn Erech and asked for the research to be telepathically sent. Having a great memory, Amon was able to recreate a version of the virus with help from the regimental surgeons and doctors. It took only a little convincing to get the hard pressed regimental commander to accept such radical methods – the regiment was reduced to one-third of its fighting strength, the Adeptus Astartes detachment stationed there had left just weeks earlier, and no reinforcements seemed to be arriving.

Longwinded, I know, but I'd appreciate any input!
Thanks!

Thanks. Problem is, my Imperial Guard is Airmobile, with Valkyries and all, and the LatD list doesn't have Valkyries.
But I'll worry about rules when I have the fluff in order. Does the story seem okay to you?

Updated fluff (removed some of the farfetchedness).

Some, more radical individuals had over a longer period of time worked on a secret project, codenamed Faith. The project was based on the planet Heipas, in the Eastern Fringe, a planet consisting primarily of a large continent, left barren by warfare centuries earlier. Originally, the project involved trying to control or dominate those already infected by the plague, but lack of funding never allowed the project to come to fruition. The project was cancelled.
Ten years later, the creation of the 506th Airmobile Infantry (Training) Regiment led to the reopening of the facility, although this time, the Ordo Xenos and the Adeptus Astartes were lending a hand, providing resources and key personnel. Their tas was the establishment of an anti-Tyranid training facility.
After only a few years, the reorganized facility, dubbed Camp E. Harrock, was overrun by an unknown Tyranid Fleet. As the Tyranids swarmed the defenses, the 506th found themselves fighting a desperate and losing battle. When they realized that the main part of their Inquisitorial and Astartes allies had left them days before the attack, the desperation rose in the ranks. The 506th and the regiments under training fought scattered battles all across the continent-sized facility. Rescue missions were undertaken with long range Valkyrie flights, but each time forces left to retrieve scattered platoons, the main defenses were left weakened, and the Tyranids gained more ground.
Regimental Command searched high and low for a solution, until they accidentally stumbled upon the old encrypted files of the Ordo Sepulturum's research. While some officers at first threatened to resign if Project Faith was restarted, some were executed and the rest suddenly changed their minds. The regiment was reduced to one-third of its fighting strength, their allies had only left symbolic forces and no reinforcements seemed to be arriving due to an impeding warp storm that was shielding off the solar system. Something had to be done, and the Faith virus seemed their only hope.

Er, I think you want to look into the Ordos Cadia(I think that was the name).

Yeah. Cadia has its own Inquisitorial Ordos, which consists of pretty much nothing but Kasrkin and staff officers "enlightened" by the Inquisition and given Inquisitorial Mandates.

I seem to recall them cropping up during the Eye of Terror events, especially the Inquisitor tie-in.

I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to find anything called the Ordo Cadia - never heard of it either.
Do you have any links or references?

...and what does it have to do with this project?

I've never heard of that Ordo either or why it would be relevant at all.

You were correct with Ordos Sepulturum. Sounds like a cool idea for fluff and this could make a really cool looking army.

I love it! However it's completely illegal cuz in the Apoc PDFs it sez Chaos, not Impiruim.

Gathering the Informations.

Sorry, I should have finished my thought apparently:

The Ordos Cadia was doing nothing but putting down the plague zombies for the vast majority of the campaign.

I'm looking for the stuff that I remembered reading, but I get the sinking feeling it was on the old fanatic website and isn't there anymore.

@Cannerus: Thanks!
Except nothing is illegal in apocalypse, now is it?
And I'm gonna use some different rules anyway.

@Kanluwen: Ah, interesting and relevant then.
If you find it, be sure to post a link. If not, perhaps you could tell the essentials?

Gathering the Informations.

The essentials, from what I recall, was that it was kind of a mishmash of Kasrkin commissioned officers, trained by the Inquisition in investigation techniques and using fairly standard Kasrkin kit. They seemed to be a blend of Xenos, Malleus, and Hereticus, training wise, and could draw upon Navy resources to operate within the Cadian sector.

Ah, I see. That sounds more or less like my army theme, except that my 506th fights Nids and not Chaos.
Be sure to post a link or a reference, will you?

There is a lot of zombie threads in proposed rules you might want to check them out. I would suggest playing a radical Daemon Hunter army with zombie allies form the old LatD plus you could throw in some Daemon Host if you like.
