I like the Kaelyssa model, but not the face. However, I don't want to do a head
swap because those goggles are neat.

The Dawnguard look promising. And those (possibly plastic) Myrmidons are pretty neat, but I don't
like the studio scheme on them. I need to see them in person to decide if I want them.

I agree I think the studio paint scheme lets the whole range down.

The three heavy warjacks (heavy myrmidons) are apparently one kit that can be configured as any otf the three models. It'll be interesting to see how this translates to other factions.

Looks cool, but I agree that the white lets the models down a bit.The cod peices still look rather strange to me,but over all I think they look ok.

What is their backstory?(the backstory for their race I mean.)

The non-heavy Myrmidons also look like they have the same body, but different arms. It looks like these might be the first new all plastic Jacks?

I am torn, I kind of like them, but I am not saying to myself, "Wow I got to have these now!"

I think Black with red glow effects where the teal effects would be a great scheme for them.

The 'jacks looks like they can actually move, unlike every other 'jack in Warmachine.

But I'll pass. I'm too jaded of a gamer for these efforts to impress me. They are average at best.

Basically the Elves of Ios are isolationist who have finally become fed up with humans using magic. You get the general impression they hate humans in general, but they loathe human magic and the warmachines they created most of all. I am sure when the faction is released in book form they will flesh out the background in detail.

A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Not bad. The first Warcaster just looks very top heavy and unbalanced with the HUGE sword he carries. The 2nd warcaster is decent.

Overall, the Warjacks look pretty good. The paintwork looks a bit unimpressive as there is so much open space for freehand design.

One thing I'm noticing is the shape of the heads of the Warjacks eerily remind me of 40K Wraithlords.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Dont really like the design or paintjob of these miniatures...PP always have been a hit and miss regarding their miniatures, IMHO this is a total miss.

I am not feeling it. It is too much super smooth, Star Trek looking to me. Like Apple designed some killing machines. I bet they have wireless internet and a 50gig hard drive with streaming video sharing.

Which would be really cool for a death machine...

Wish they would put some teal & brown on the Myrmidons like they have on the infantry models. They are already going out on a limb with having so much open non-detailed space on the models. To then just paint it all white...
Clenched fist poses all around as well making them look like MW Clix quality... Ugh!

I like the look of the faction, I might like the models with a bit of work. Definitely needs something else to the Myrmidon color scheme to break up the white glob look.

Sad about the disparity between Kaelyssa model and her concept art also.

Edit: Upon further review. They look like more like pre-painted plastics than miniature wargame models. If they are, that really will be the saddest news I've ever heard.

They're interesting... certainly stand out from the other WM stuff.

Although the first couple of 'jacks look like pumped-up angry ducks, which is throwing me off a little...

The "fantasy steam" is in the weird revolver swords of the Dawnguard Invictors. Not sure
about where it is on the Myrmidons.

Goggles are to PP as Skulls are to GW.

I dunno how I feel on them. The models look decent, nothing that quite stands out and says BUY ME! like the Khador Jacks and Circle Warbeasts did when I picked those respective factions.

I'm more interested in their rules and background ATM.

Hmm. iWarjack.

Aside from the codpieces on the jacks, they look all right to me. The Myrmidons remind me more of Monsterpocalypse figures than anything else, especially the Hydra. The Invictors look really cool.

Well, my first impression was that they'd make pretty good Wraithguard if they are plastic and easy to trim down in size just a bit, so take that as you will.

I kinda like these. They're like giant angry, abstract sculptures come to life. The weapons on some of them look a bit odd (those forearm-blades dont look very destructive, for example), but all in all, I'm a fan.

I can't wait to see what the modelers and painters can make of these.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I actually really like everything that isn't the character models. The robots have an Evangelion kinda look to them... and I like the super-future look of the infantry compared to the rest of Warmachine.

I mean really though... how do you make Elves stick out in a game like this? You'll have to make 'em unique... and making them high-tech works.

I think these models are cool in their overall form. I think that the lack of detail is a double edged sword. On the one hand, lower end painters are going to suffer with these models as there is less to paint, while higher level painters will have more freedom for personalization with larger spaces.

All that open space seems like it would scream for some NMM. The paint on these is a real let down. The warjacks look like they belong in Monpoc.

Several things. First off, the paint job is pretty terrible as a showcase, in much the same was as the 4th edition Tyranids Purple and White colorscheme was terrible. Basically, the paintscheme's sure don't add anything interesting to the models, and the large flat surfaces really beg for some kind of interesting paintwork, be it runes or weathering. As such right now, the white and lack of metallics makes it look like these are constructed of some kind of psycho-reactive ceramic/plastic material. (Wraithbone anyone?) Just a poor choice for a showcase, especially when the concept art showed alot of earth/stone tones.

Second, the two warcasters are just horrible sculpts. Looking at the concept art and completed model, I can't imagine where the disconnect happened, since the Troop models look pretty close. The warcasters are just bad sculpts, with the eye-patch guy looking off, and the chick looking very static and "uninterested". Very much not the norm for Privateer Press in terms of their other model range.

The warjacks, what can I say about them other than they just look...unfinished and not right. Here's hoping you can fix some of that by posing them different, but the pictures here make them look very, awkward. If it's true that these are all plastic and in the same kit, then I guess the only way to really differentiate them would be with different heads. They don't seem to have any weapons really, and I dunno, I can't really put my finger on it, but they just don't seem to work for me. They look like they are top heavy, with ungainly legs and they don't look like they would typify the style and grace of an elf. You would almost expect them to fly or float, but they just look like they kinda plod.

Concept art = AWESOME
Miniatures = Fail

The troops look pretty decent, however if we get a close up of them, we might not think so anymore...

I am pretty disappointed in this range, as the Concept Art practically had me sold, but the mini's fail to deliver.

EDIT:

The 'jacks also have pretty "uninspired" names.

i quite like them. its like 40k if you get sick of the imperium you have eldar and tau. That looks liek what this faction is, a break from rivets and boilers, Giving us something more elegent is just ticking a box to please people who may liek the game but dont particularly like the simple brutish style of say Khador or Cygnar. Why are peopel saying "wheres the steampunk" Just look at the Cryx. Anyway. i may get some of these guys just for their looks. But Khador will be my only real force.

I'm agreeing with you on this one. The minis look great, but that color scheme makes them look like a Mac or something.

They don't exactly fit with the established style of Warmachine, but I think that's part of the point. I wonder how nice they would look all battle damaged up.
