Materials:
-1 Jurassic Park Velocirapter
-Lots of green stuff

Got inspired to do this project after seeing a picture of a Tallarn rider in one of the old guard codex and I also wanted to try my hand
at sculpting. Please excuse the quality of some of the pics, it was before I figured out how to take them properly. I re-sculpted the
arms and legs to give the model a stronger look.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

The mount was a Jurassic park velocirapter model kit, I just redid it's arms and legs to make it look stronger. The original arms and legs were quite spindly.

WHOA!

I am stunned!

This model is fantastic!

A 40K-scaled squad of these would also be incredible to see on the field. That is, if YOU sculpted them.

Wow!

I've thought about doing that, the only thing that's stopping me is that I've never seen anyone sucessfully use them. Anyone ever had a positve experience using IG calvary?

Apart from once charging a squad of termies and wiping out all but one, no. They are rather situational.

That is so freaking cool.

Could you give us some tips on how you made this model? The green stuff turned out fantastic. What kinds of paints did you use for this? Did you find they reacted differently to the plastic and green stuff?

I personally think the points be better spent on troops but maybe if they gave them a carapace armor upgrade for free or just something that would give them a better chance of survival...

I think the biggest thing I learned on this project was patience with the green stuff. What I mean by that is letting it sit just the right amount of time and letting it cure so that when you work with it, it's firm enough to take shape but not too hard that you can't work with it at all. For me, this time frame was about 15-20 minutes after I mixed the stuff. To keep things moving, I usually would make one batch, wait about 10 minutes then make a second batch and put it in the freezer to slow the curing process. Once I was done with the first batch I'd pull the freezer batch out and start working on that one. I used Vallejo paints for the project, that's my personal go to. I didn't have any issues with the paint reacting differently because I prime all my models before painting them. If you do that there shouldn't be any type of reaction issues. Do you prime your models? Because I'm not sure what kind of reaction issues you may be referring to. Thanks for all the feed back everyone!
