Just saw this on the GW site. They've redone ALL of there brushes. Some are gone, but some are new. Check it out...

which brushes are gone? I likethe new stippling brush. It just means i won't have to make one anymore out of old brushes.

Oooh, the stippling brush and large drybrush are welcome additions to me.

Gone are the:

Small Flat Drybrush
Tank Brush

Renamed are the:

Medium Drybrush from Large Drybrush
Large Drybrush from Large Flat Drybrush

New are:

Wash Brush
Stippling Brush

The stippling brush looks interesting however i cant recommend the citadel brushes to anyone

The stippling brush looks kinda neat, I was under the impression that they were just repackaging the old ones or some nonsense like that...

Anyone know anything about them other than what they look like? Are they actually better quality brushes than what they had before or are they the same/worse?

If you go to an art and graphics supplies shop you will find a large selection of brushes.

The kind of flat brush with a point is great for either laying on swathes of colour or doing detail. It is like a huge version of the Citadel small drybrush.

No Tank Brush? That's a shame, I find that one quite useful for big stuff. But as I already own one, not a complete disaster.

I was a little disapointed about this also, but I think the new spray gun kind of makes up for it.

True, but no one really needs 10 brushes starting or already invested. A newbie will ruin them within 6 months and have to replace the set and a veteran shouldn't need to buy more than 3 or 4. Plus it's still a money grab considering you can buy most of them individually and there's no discount in a group.

Overall this an improvement in GW's pricing as the current brushes are $8.00 and have a limited variants, you're just a jaded douche that takes every opportunity to harp on GW.

It depends on the brush. Go to GW's site for descriptions on each.

Some are (Kolinsky sable hair) and others are (60% dark ox hair; 40% nylon fibres).

Geez. You can make a stippling brush out of a worn out one by clipping the bristles. Nice try GW, if I spent $56 bucks on brushes at the local art supply or craft store; I would never need brushes again because I'd own a pallet-load.

yeah those are way over-priced. you could get all of those $2-$5 a piece at hobby lobby or somewhere like that. or even cheaper when they have their 50% off sale on brushes!

That's not a bad price if they're all high-quality (Kolinsy) sable without any mixed/blend brushes.

The problem is that GW brush quality just isn't that good.

So for 80% the price of a 'good' brush I can get a 'meh' brush.
Imagine trying that in a restaurant.

I just leave mine upside-down in the water pot, that's not good for them?

I guess they figured some people would have brushes lying around on the tabletop from time to time. I know mine are almost never neatly stored upright in their jar.

I think they did it so that jervis can write a full standard bearer on how awesome colour coded brushes are.

friends don't let friends paint with Citadel brushes. Better quality can be found elsewhere usually for cheaper. Also, for the time spent painting for not a massive amount of money you can buy Series 7 or Da Vinci brushes. My large da vinci large brush (no5) has such a good point it can almost be used on eyes. Not buying a decent brush when you pay $500 dollars for an army just doesn't make sense.

They look good, and if my eye doth deceive me, they might have altered the size on them. Only Trial will tell.

Prices are better than the old brushes...

Not sure how useful Gigantor the Drybrush will be.
