3: assasins(?) creed 2
4: mass effect 2(i think so)
the onlt thing i hate is that all the great games come out in Q3-Q4 every year

-to many points to bother to count.

The great games always come out in Q3/4.

It sets them up for the Christmas season.

My top pick would be God of War III. The first two were forged of pure awesomesauce in the fires of Sony's design rooms. Best action game ever, IMO.

Halo 3: ODST is one I'll be picking up. I love being stealthy, and being a superhuman or an elite alien soldier gets old after a while.

Left 4 Dead 2 is due on November 17 according to the trailer, so I'll be keeping an eye out for that. Using a frying pan to beat up hunters sounds like fun.

And last but not least, Starcraft II, assuming the donkey-caves at Blizzard manage to pull their heads out of the pile of gak that is WoW.

Starcraft 2 I doubt will be out, or at least an exceptional playable build.

Truth be told, I'd much rather see Blizzard get back to work on Starcraft: Ghost. So what if it was glitch-laden? FIX IT. All games are glitchy in the beta stage.

Ghost came to light right as Splinter Cell, Blizzard never mentions that.

I sincerely doubt they abandoned it "just" because it was glitch-laden.

Splinter Cell and Ghost are completely different though. Ghost is more about combat, while Splinter Cell is more about sneaking and espionage.

What, Double Agent? I never rented it because I couldn't find the PS2 version.

No.
I don't really count Double Agent, because the whole system it had was...weird, to put it lightly.

But Chaos Theory was pretty solid for combat and stealth/espionage.

But from what I recall of Starcraft, Ghosts are scouts, spies, snipers, and saboteurs.
How is that going to play any differently?

Watch the gameplay trailer that came with Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. It looked like it had a lot more action in it, because Nova (the Ghost) was seen in pitched battles alongside marines.

Chaos Theory was almost entirely sneaking around. I never finished itt, but no matter how much I played it, I never got into a gun battle. Just a few neckbreakers here and there and a few silent headshots and that was it.

RELEASE PLANS

"
When will Diablo III be released?

It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We're aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We'll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.

Champions Online. I'm pretty sure it's set for 2009, though I do know that the 360 version has been delayed, possibly until next year (sucks for me).

Is Final Fantasy XIII seriously coming out this year? I wouldn't bet on it. Not in English, anyway. But yeah, that one.

Diablo III, which probably won't come out this year either.

Prototype. Definitely.

Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Hopefully they'll have more DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV and Fable II, the two games that have sucked more of my life away than any other games out of the current generation. Unfortunately they both suffer the fate of becoming rather boring once you beat everything they have to offer (not like that's not a lot), so that would fix that up nice and quick. Lionhead's been really good about providing DLC (Two expansions since the release of Fable II a few months ago), so that's pretty much a sure bet, and TLAD came out so fast that you didn't even have time to do a double take. Here's to hoping.

Left 4 Dead 2? Seriously? That could just as easily be downloadable content. I didn't think Valve was one to cash in on get-rich-quick schemes, like an instant sequel to a massively popular game, but it looks like they are. For shame. I absolutely refuse to buy it, even if all of my friends switch over, until it's sitting at around 20 dollars.

Mass Effect 2 will only be redeemed in my mind if they deliver on their original promises. The whole game was pretty much a facade of 'Next Generation'; they cut a whole lot of corners.

Final Fantasy: Dissidia and The Third Birthday should be out by Q4, which makes me very happy. The PSP is in dire need of new titles, as it's had maybe one release per month for the past six months. That's just sad. Since both of these games are so high profile, you can't really go wrong.

I might actually pick up Modern Warfare 2 while it's new, seeing as how I've skipped CoD4 entirely, due to the fact that it has not dropped below 60 dollars since it's release. What was that, two years ago? Yeah.

Is Dead Rising 2 out this year? If so, that's definitely going in my collection as soon as possible.

Before I forget, I should mention Star Wars: The Old Republic. It looks like Sith and Jedi will only be one of many classes. I'd love to play as a Mandalorian.

Apart from fething Final Fantasy 13 which SE have lovingly denied me till 2010 (you can't tell i'm pissed can you) those are pretty much the only games that spark my interest this year.

Let's clear the air here.

Diablo III will NOT be out this year, and perhaps not even next.

Also, I played a working version Starcraft: Ghost at GenCon a few years ago.

There isn't much in '09 that interests me. I've heard we may yet see FF13 on PS3 in NA (the acronyms, they'll end us all) for Christmas, but that's about the only thing I'm on for.

Except Modern Warfare 2 anyway, and possibly SC2.

Mass Effect 2 would be on this list, but I've heard that's a mid 2010 release.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.
