Why do I ask if this is worse than Paedophile? Because one would assume the mad bint has done it solely for financial reasons. Somehow to my mind that is worse than someone doing it for their own jollies.

Please can we bring back the chair? This is an act (well, actually, several hundred acts I suppose) of pure evil. Evil driven purely by greed.

I feel so sorry for the parents and the kids involved. This is beyond shocking.

Thing is, there is the relatively valid arguement which suggests some Paedophiles have a mental condition which causes them to find children attractive. Whether from birth or trauma is largely unimportant. There are many people out there with such an attraction, who never give in to temptation. Whilst a million miles from being excusable to act on such desires, it's still not as bad as doing such acts purely for financial gains.

Apples & oranges. In your example, the state did the killing, and the tattoos are to differentiate them from normal society.

In my example, I'm outsourcing the beatings, rapes, and other abuse as prisoner-on-prisoner violence by similarly-convicted criminals, and the tattoos are to mark them as "fair game" for such abuse.

There is a difference.
