Seeing as how it has come up a few times in the murmurs of other Codices, I decided to start this thread to deal with the small amount of uncorroborated details currently available to us regarding Codex: Angry Space Marines in Black.

Here's what I've gleaned thus far:

I just got wind of Blood Angels and Black Templar being those two in 2010 that will be released. Apparently, GW had the bright idea that releasing all the 'non-codex astartes' space maroons around the same time was a good idea.

One of the biggest leaks I also heard about Black Templar was their lack of preferred enemy in the new codex. Sounds like BT may've gotten nerfed.

I'm not one to give out my sources, though I will say this guy was probably as hammered as the OP's leaker.

I've heard talk of them streamlining the overall Codex (duh) to look more like the more current ones in terms of unit choices and wargear. Vows may be getting a revamp, though I really don't have anything solid or credible to back that up.

Things I'd really like to see changed:
1. Something unique to the codex again. GW pinched the Crusader back in 4th Ed and gave it to everybody, then proceeded to make it better for everybody except the creating Chapter.

2. If the do end up redoing the vows, I hope they can come up with some that are balanced between one another, and not the ridiculous no-brainer that "Accept Any Challenge" has become. Granted, that happened because of an Edition change, not poor writing on the Codex's behalf, but I'd still like to see a fix.

3. Make Crusader Squads scary again. The Codex: Armageddon supplement made BT Crusader Squads fething ridiculous if they failed a Morale Check (yay for old-school Righteous Zeal!). Since they like massed infantry charges, putting some power into their base troops would make the Codex less inclined to take on a Mechanized Build (which are fast-becoming the most popular style around with the release of the IG Codex.

I'd really like to hear anything that you all may have dredged up. This will keep the other threads from getting bogged down with Black Templar rumors.

OK, honestly, I could care less what happens to their Codex.

I only care about the BT bitz.

It would be awesome if BT got their sprue recut to have more Mk.2 Crusader helms and Tabard bodies. Most of the other bitz are rather meh.

Actually, since I'm asking for a pony, I want the BT sprue recut to include legs & backpacks. Like the DA "Veterans". But with *RUNNING* Legs, not the static standing legs. At that point, I won't need the basic SM Tactical or Assault sprues at all, and can just make BT right out of the box.

- Black Templars PFist, PAxe, PSword, CCW
- Black Templars BP, & Melta Pistol
- Black Templars screaming baldie & champion helmet
- Black Templars deathwatch & champion-style shouldpads

Oh, and some random bitz will be nice.

I figured Preferred Enemy would eat it, but hey, I have to many to stop collecting now. Besides we were the best in 4th, but we still did OK.

I would hope that GW would work on something else besides marines.
While I do like the space marines armies etc, there are a few other armies that haven't had an update in way to long.

My hopes, aside from cool new rules and special characters:
- Bring things up to par with the marine codex: Land Raider, Storm Shields, etc
- Let Black Templars consolidate into combat / or let us Zeal into combat
- More plastic boxes, not just an upgrade box

Since BT are pretty good now, they'll get beat with the nerf bat. As a non-BT player, I hope they do something to further differentiate them from Codex SM (which, they're already pretty variant), but also to make them unlike the 'other' close-combat marine armies - SW and BA.

Actually BT suffer at the hands of Zeal forcing their movement but not being able to charge. This was the real strength of the army so this is what I am hoping they fix. Let us Zeal into CC and update the wargear to work in 5th as well as reword the vows.

Since BT got a codex last time i cant see them getting one this time around, even though it was said they would at a GD. Maybe it was just a slip up?

Yeah, I don't think they are doing any more marine variant codexes.

You do realize that Zeal forces you to move "up to" X inches, right? Just choose 0 inches.

The idea is that all of the space marine variants will then come out around the same time. No more whining about one or the other, they can now take care of everything at once. Of course, this results in even more bland codecies, but it's bound to happen. Just be sadder when 6TH EDITION comes along and ANOTHER space marine codex is released.

if they updated all the marines at the same time it would be kinda cool assuming they did not screw it up and blandificate them.

Wishlist time:
I'd like sternguard rounds to appear in sword brethern bolt pistols personally combined with being able to assault out of drop pods, granted its an auto first turn assault and dead unit but hows that any different from sterns? I'd also like to see the option for more than one power weapon in a squad, zeal into combat (trade off being you always have to move the full zeal distance unless you have a commander in the unit)
Also Helbrecht needs pimping out so he's as good as calgar/lysander, and i'd like to see a marshal character, grimlaudus beefed up and maybe a special 'chapters emperors champion' think the daddy in CC but knowhere else (maybe with the sword of sigismund?)

You do realize that Zeal forces you to move "up to" X inches, right? Just choose 0 inches.

and the point of zeal would now be what? So now we are just marines right heheh.

If they move towards that approach, where all the SM variants are released about the same time, I think in Sixth Edition, it's possible we'd see some of the variant lists either combined with the main codex, or combined with each other (ala 2nd Edition Angels of Death).

Much agreed. Eternal Warrior would be nice. Afterall he is the autonomous master of the largest crusading chapter in the imperium, What does calgar have to say to that. not to mention we always love seeing our 200 point, 4 wound, special character dying like an initiate to one of the million templates mech guard spits out on turn 1. Special Character EC would be nice too. Another cool idea for the his fluff could be the recovered geneseed of sigismund.

Personally, i think we could use a decent cost per model decrease for our crusader squads. Or at least give them frag and krak like the 'nilla Marines. Paying 19 points per model for similarly equipped Initiates is not cool.

The ability to give up an assault weapon for an additional power weapon/fist and the addition of Claws would be cool.

Im pretty sure we all expect Accept Any Challenge to get nerfed. As much as we all will hate it. However, i wouldnt be completely upset as long as we get something decently equivalent, Like Zeal into combat, fleet, or something of the like. But I will still hope for that miniscule chance that we keep it.

I would like to keep the ability to individually equip ICs, but that isnt going to happen.

The obvious updates like the redeemer, drop pod assault, ironclad, etc.

Since we are so elite heavy, i wouldnt mind seeing our force organization chart expanded to include one or two more elite choices. They did it for wolves so why cant they do it for us? Maybe choosing to take Dreads as heavy or elite. Or ability to take an IC that allows it.

It would be nice for zeal to only be able to make you run away if you lost 25% or more. It is always cool seeing your squads run away from losing one guy. (that one is a little more of a complaint than a wish)

Definately would like to see our Dreads and Bretheren retain the ablilty to purchase veteran skills.

Since we lose a lot of Heavy Support options i would like to see something else added, like a Helios or Ares or something similar.
