MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – A central Ohio teenager accused of putting a noose around a Hispanic boy's neck and dragging him in a parking lot has been sentenced to 10 days in jail.
The 18-year-old was sentenced Wednesday in juvenile court in Mount Vernon, a city of 15,000 residents an hour's drive northeast of Columbus. He dropped his original plea of not guilty and pleaded no contest to ethnic intimidation.
A charge of aggravated menacing was dropped.
Seventeen-year-old Robert Cantu says in May 2008 he was dragged from a sidewalk to a parking lot with the noose wrapped around his neck by a group of teenagers shouting racial slurs. He says the teens threatened to hang him before a bystander intervened.
His family says it plans to sue the city, dubbed the state's Most Livable Community in 1994.
Thank goodness for helpful bystanders. Not so much the super light slap on the wrist punishment.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. I like 'state's most livable community in 1994'. Maybe it blows chunks now, but if someone invents a time machine you can go back to 1994 and it'll be quite a pleasant experience.

I do believe that the right to sue anything on the thinnest of thoughts is part of the American Dream. Plus when the city has a slogan like that they are asking for it.

10 days in jail more then he would get over here. In fact our Crown Prosecution Service is so twisted they would probably find him as the victim and award him compensation. At least you do things with crims....

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

Agreed. In fact, we should just build a huge jail and make DeadShane the warden, put all stupid people in it, and give him free reign, check back in a year and see how things went.

THIS. This is why I advocate government run testing for potential parents. Even if it's simply a psyche evaluation.

In Dubai there was a young sister who was planning to get married. She hadn't asked her brother...big mistake...He doused her in petrol and in an empty pool set her on fire.
The whole story had been shushed up, not good for cities image, but we heard about it from an inside journalist. (friend of the family).
Fether was given the death penalty. Got his top cut off, served him right too.
Also a fellow aussie was sacked and deported for giving the finger to locale.
