Something I realized right off when I saw the Shadowsword kit and I HAD to do it... this is a makeshift colossus both fluff wise and visually. In the end I intend to rough it up even more, add more damage, more looted-ork like appeal but not to out of control...and of course, chaos logos. All over... as for the loader? Ill have my (useless) sentinel loader follow it around point blank.

Do note: I know the gun is NOT the length of the colossus seen in the IG book, however the caliber of the gun is WELL beyond that of the Medusa, it fits the colossus. As for how they range it? I figured a gun that heavy, make-shift as it may be, might be to hard for the simple minded workers my renegades tend to be... so I figure, if you adjust the amount of propellant, you change how far it can fire. As the Colossus scatters without subtracting the BS3 of the vehicle, I figure it makes sense, model and rules wise After all, they ARE heretics...

Enjoy the work so far...

This is pretty much a looted vehicle. With a Sentinel Power Loader/Lifter behind it and the ramp forced down, with makeshift shell-rails to push the shells along... why use machines to load when good old fashion slave gangs works too? Chaos doesn't need the machine god!

Assuming I read that broken english right (don't worry about it ), I don't intend to replace my vehicles with slave gangs, just the colossus' mechanics... I still have my other vehicles pretty intact.

Simply Amazing bash.

Are you going to keep it open as such?

I fought for the Glory of the Emperor, I saw my mates die on the line. Did he say anything, not a frakking thing.

The top, yes, and the back yes. The side no, I intend to seal it off with the other tread housing. I also am going to put the light sentinel 'cage' ontop of the gunner.

The conversion in general is ace, and the gun does indeed look boomy, however if you're going to leave the back open I would recommend beefing up the armour plate a bit. At the moment the rear section looks more... well, more like a plastic kit than an armoured vehicle. Can you thicken up the plate a little, and maybe roughen up the cuts so it loks like its been attacked by a nutter with an oxy-acetaline torch?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

THATS HOW THE EGYPTIANS DID IT AND THEY GOT STUFF DONE! SO THATS HOW THE TRAITOR GUARD DOES IT

Bingo thats my intention. I have the plate barely glued so I can remove and work with it. Im going to reinforce the interior, detail it, then scar it up with a fine blade. The rest of the tank will receive similar treatment. As you picked up, pretty much they cut apart a troop chimera and stuck a big gun in it =D

thats cool. I think the idea is a quality one, if not fluffy. just needs little bits finishing

I like it, great idea and detailing! You know that chaos-ing it up will just make it cheap! Like a tattoo that you regret 6 months later. (only joking)

I shall watch its development with interest!

Enough people have said this, so I will. Working on it right now so expect new photos within 2 hours maybe.

Distracted with another project. Expect pics late today

Update with new images of progress. Still details needed to be added + gap filling/cleaning/marring/crew/etc... I yanked the chimera armor off as people had complained about that a lot, but I did extend the back for shell ejection and loading.

Also throwing in my newly finished Renegade stub gunner, I just liked him also a show of one of my chimera variants.

I seee youuuu

the following quote is from the wikipedia page on continuous "caterpillar" tracks:
At about the same time a British agricultural company, Hornsby in Grantham, developed a continuous track which was patented in 1905.[4] The design differed from modern tracks in that it flexed in only one direction with the effect that the links locked together to form a solid rail on which the road wheels ran. Hornsby's tracked vehicles were used as artillery tractors by the British Army from 1906. The patent was purchased by Holt. The Hornsby tractors featured the track-steer clutch arrangement, which is the basis of the modern crawler operation, and some say an observing British soldier quipped that it crawled like a caterpillar. The word was shrewdly trademarked and defended by Holt.

now, back on topic-- i love the look of these tanks. are you going to keep the 9mm shell on the back of that tank? it looks ace. Can you give a parts list for that cannon too btw?

I simply repositioned some wheels, mostly trial and error, until I got the look I wanted.

Chimera body
Shadowsword weapon sprue for the cannon
Sentinel seat and pilot for the gunner with a baneblade officer gas mask head
The Basing Kit for the brass flooring spots
Lots and lots of plasticard
and a shell or two

Yeah, I will be keeping that shell on it.

I really think you should put some slave collapsing from carrying a shell

That would make it even better

I really like your Chimera. I never really like how wide the GW one is. Yours is more in line with how I think they should be. Consider it stolen .

And I agree with Werdes. A slave(s) carrying the shell would look and fit great.
