So I joined dakka originally for the 40k help, but I find myself wasting the majority of my day in the off-topic forum. How many of you guys have been forever drawn into the medusa-like grips of the off-topic forum?

Yeh I might say I'm guilty of that. It's a rare thing you get to talk about all sorts of issues with lots of differen't people.

Agreed. Even though things get heated here often, I think that the mods do a great job and for the most part the dakka community is full of some very intelligent and eloquent people. Obviously there are some exceptions (GBF

Posts too. I think that you still see their posts when quoted.

I guess I don't have a huge problem ignoring people that are trolls, I guess I just have to wonder why I should bother posting constructively when the mods seem to not care when somebody is intentionally disruptive. Oh, and if you try to call them out, you get spanked.

I'm telling you the IGNORE button is your friend. I've only ignored a few people but it's amazing how many "Ignored post by xxxxx" I see. It's very liberating, and a genious addition to the site.

I joined to have a place to post pics of my minis. However I am grateful for the off-topic forum as it has drawn me away from posting on political forums. Even the worst stuff posted here doesn't hold a candle to the craziness/venom one finds on political forums.

I know what you mean. I used to read the Huffington post all the time and commented there sometimes, but people are off the deep end sometimes. The amount of hate generated is enormous.

Agreed. There is some leniency which I like sometimes and hate others, but for the most part, the mods are like Fox News, Fair & Balanced.

(I suppose I'm pretty guilty of lurking the OT section as well. I do read the fluff section quite a bit.)

One man's disruption is another man's key post. After all, the entire OT is a disruption. We are not the arbiters of taste, except for me of course, I am the be all and end all of taste.

I know when I read a post that mentions someone with circular logic, and general trolling I generally don't think they are talking about me.
