I would love to see what models you have flying out from it, but it is a snake typ rounding model..lots of cutting and stuffing to pull off a running effect.

Nah I want the stress in the plasticard, heating it makes it smooth, and I want it to be upheaved and jagged like jackhammered concrete... the best way for that is either files, a coping saw or ripping by grabbing with two sets of pliers and just ragging it to bits. I might, when I've cast it up actually do others to sell.

I'll probably try all tree in some way to see which is best tbh... I think I may try a chiselled effect using a very narrow chisel... as it's supposed to be rockcrete as opposed to metal plate.

only time will tell

hmm... have you thought about using plaster to model the whole thing undisturbed and then drill in and tear the bitz apart?

Considered it, but the breaking of the plaster would cause dust problems as well as small fractures, tbh I think the whole thing would be trouble when it comes to casting it up.

I think plasticard and GS, or using an oil based clay I have to save the Gs, to sculpt the upheaved play and cast that instead.

I'll do what I normally do and try and solve it as I get there

or you could use FIMO... behaves like any sculpting material but gets brittle and hard... that could get you some nice sharp edges...

well the oil based clay I have is reusable as it never goes off if kept airright.

Lols not quite, oil based clay is what artists use to make sculptures from, its expensive, but worth it for the fact its reusable.

I forget its proper name, but its easy enough to find by googling oil based clay

just looked it up, its "Roma Plastilina"

thanks childe... but this stuff only really works if you can mold it? but if you have reached that step... i think it´s worth it...

Ive done mould making before, this would be no different, apart from instead of using Alginate, I'd be using Silicone so its reusable.

LOL quite. Roma Plastilina is a variant of plasticine. At least, they taste the same.

I don't think I want to know how you found that out...

Well because its part of the story, and as I know you've read the original Vik, you'll remember what happens with the Mawloc.

So how I'll tackle the base will be as follows, make decking in the shape of the oval base, then I'l cut it and upheave it to look like its taken the strain of the Mawloc bursting from below. at which point I'll GS the soil which would lay under the concrete then most likely cast the parts up, so I can pin the upheaved sections to look like they are flying away from the emerging Mawloc.

does that make sense? If not, you'll have to wait and see

Technically all nids have six limbs/legs... but sometimes sets are grown to have specific uses
