Thrakka with follow me ladz... brilliant, that combo didn't occur to me. I'll absolutely do that next time I run orks.

Gotcha, thanks for the advice as always Jidmah. In that case, what would the first battle trait for the Beastboss on Squigosaur would you recommend? He already has 3 damage with Proper Killy, so I figure it makes sense to give him Ride Em Down to get +1 to his advance and charge rolls, which means his unit would have +2 to charge rolls since it stacks with his baseline rule.

We usually roll for traits. Picking makes good players snowball way to fast, and the crusade blessing balancing mechanism can't keep up. That said, the mounted table is a really good to roll on in general, but the if both the character and the unit have the same enhancements you don't get any extra benefits twice, so rolling characters and units on different table often makes sense. The character table in nexus works quite well for units like squigs, so maybe check that, especially if you are allowed to pick. For durable models it also pays off to make them even more durable - it allows them to fight longer and score more xp, so stacking the crusade relic with +1T and +1 to save might and dead 'ard armor might be worth looking at.

In general, orks are fairly blessed with a wide array of choices, so you can customize your guys according to your playstyle. As a general rule of thumb, I would try to avoid glass cannons and favor utility and durability over killing power if you want to maximize your exp and crusade rules. Extra AP and damage can often completely change a unit's role so I'd count that as utility, extra damage in form of strength, lethal hits or extra attacks usually not so much.
If you just aim to win as many games as possible and thus the campaign, anything that worked well in competitive is likely to help you maximize VP as well. However, since some missions stack the odds against you, so it is the more challenging path and you will end up with more battle scars and less xp/stomping points. I also would not advise for it if you are looking for a break from competitive.

I was looking at the Weapons Modifications one as well, not sure if I have the wording down, but it looks like it only excludes you from having it if your enhancement is replaced but I don't think most enhancements do that nowadays? Not sure how you played it with your group, as the wording on Proper Killy just says add +1 damage to all melee weapons equipped by the bearer so I'm not sure if that would count.

I don't think any enhancements available to orks replace the weapon anymore, so all of them stack. It's also propper orky, though some campaign masters house rule this. My big mek had the glowy gizmo relic combined with da shootiest blasta and an extra shot/precision weapon modification on the KMB. He did not need any help scoring "show 'em how it's done", and turned out to be the only character that went up to legendary for the crusade.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Already tried last game, gave it a big mek for reroll advances with ere we go strat. 8' + (d6+2 (reroll)) + 2 to charge. Position him in a center ruin of map using the magic box to protect his position from charges. can easily move more then a trukk. My case, moved 15' plus 11charge deleted one big tau suit and 3 smaller ones. It still needs support. I brought a pair of breaka boyz. Rest was all for scoring, trucks full of flamers and the breaka boy trucks had flashgitzs.

Looking back the 3 units were incredible distractions(kommandos and snikrot also), it provided me the time for my flame trucks to delete my opponent scoring units leaving only dps suits. won 78 to 34. Sure Ghaz slaps but what matters is score. If anyone want's my 2 cents, trukks with flamers and gitz were mvps. Yep 70pt unit which only transports. Hoping they go back to 65pts.

Also shout out for deffkopta enjoyer in this forum that gave me the idea to DS them, was funny making my opponent bend over by compromising his home and not having any score units.

By the way, this was one of the games where except for some key roles, dices decided they were against me. Still came on top with careful piloting, but it was a desperate 3 turns.

It would appear there is a bit of a surge in battlewagons only lists with no trukks.

Im going to try one variant also to see if it makes sense.

Hope, is the first step on the road to disappointment.

It makes sense from a points perspective. Two Trukks is only 20 points less than a Battlewagon which provides the same transport capacity, similar (though different) durability and a LOT more firepower. Personally I think it probably makes sense to run one BW and 1-2 Trukks, but I get why you would put more into the big transport currently.

1 Battlewagon = more fire power
VS
2 Trucks = more versatility

Wich is better depends on what you intend to do with them.

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking 1 BW/1-2 Trukks might be ideal. I've run a lot of 4 trukk lists this edition and often a couple of them end up in the same general place. There's also some interesting flexibility in what goes into a Battlewagon to consider, but I think that's probably secondary with the Boyz blob.

I played 2BW + 2trukks warhorde list this year couple of times and it worked pretty well.

Duolicity, versarility, 2 deffrollas. What can a proppa warboss want more than 2 deffrolass hu? Yeah I know…. More deffrolass

To be fair, it was john lennon or who who was pretty succesfull with such a list this spring. I remember pretty well his reddish baneblade conversions. Such setup can be seen over the whole last year.

Not sure if this has been shared before.

Next issue of Conquest has the normally £38.99 Boomdakka Snazzwagon for £9.99.

Thanks doc.

Fun lore insert - in Big Dakka, when Ufthak tries to explain to a Drukhari Archon what a Boomdakka Snazzwagon is, she thinks he is just making up words to ridicule her and gets angry.

First of new CI is out and couple of warbosses there. New ork meta is shaping
Mostly War Hordes (and one Bully) with Ghazzy and Boyz. Ghazzis best new friend is the Big Mek with Follow me Lads. No paintboy at all.
Few Trukks and 1-2 BWs are standard.
Big stars are Flashgitz obviously, 2 packs of 10, sometimes even 10+10+5 quite a lot.
Breaka boyz, usually in pairs.
+ various selection of other infantry or small packs of Koptas.
Stormboyz are gone. As I read the lists, it is massive “all out” concept, no points for some some sheneningas like screening and running around…

There is sometimes more non-battle line infantry than transport capacity. So there is obviously some new trick I miss. Flashgitz in reserves? Or what? Any tips?

10k p fullpaint orks finally ready to krump!!!

With all the wagon representation lately, I'm debating mixing up my own list and dropping my 4 trukks in favour of 2 wagons. This will however require swapping Mozrog for a Killchoppa Squigosaur in order to squeeze points.

The wagons would each contain a Beastboss with 10 Snaggas, 5 Flash Gitz and 6 Tankbustas, whereas the Trukks usually separate into Snagga Missiles and Flash/Busta gunboats.

What are people's thoughts on the wagon/Trukk debate?

Same as always - I think you should take wichever tool best fills your particular need.
Unless your choice is driven by "theme", or simply because you like x model. That then always trumps optimization as far as I'm concerned.

There's no particular theme other than generally being Snagga heavy with some supporting Dakka units. SnaggaDakka if you will. And the Hog Brick I refuse to give up on

Both versions of the list in the spoilers below, just want to see which vibes best with you guys and why. Obviously they both have their merits, and to me at least it seems to boil down to "speed and versatility" vs "durability and oomph". I would currently be leaning towards the wagon variant to alleviate some of the traffic jam issues my usual list faces and to give other hard targets for the enemy to chew through, but somehow I appear to have lost my wagons in storage

I'm not expertise on orks so maybe I'm wrong but, I think the double BW would fit better for your list, because try to hide in the first battleround: the 4 trukks, the killrig and the huge hogs unit it's seems hard in a lot of GW layouts.
If you play WTC maybe you can hide them better but the movement phase won't be easy.

Well, Snagga heavy list? Take more Rigs!

This is hard to balance honestly and the best I can recommend is - give it a try. I test my lists on TTS first and than play them IRL. it solves also the problem of not having the right models right away.

10k p fullpaint orks finally ready to krump!!!

I'm leaning towards the wagons for this exact reason. The Trukks are very effective, if I have enough space to manoeuvre them in.

The traffic jam is also why I take the likes of Tankbustas over Breaka Boys, as everything in the list wants to be up in the enemy's face as soon as possible and the midboard gets very bloated very quickly.

One obvious solution to the jam is to remove the Hogs, but I've already made it clear that they're a hill I'm willing to die on

The good news is that I found my wagons, curiously in a box otherwise full of old clothing so I'm going to trial the wagons for a bit and see how they gel with the list.

I'd love to take more rigs, but the limited capacity of the Kill Rig means I have to cut back on everything else, and both rigs can only transport Snaggas so I would need additional transports for the Dakka contingent.

Also, the Hunta Rig can only hold 21 Snagga models, which is quite inconvenient when 22 would be perfect and probably mean I actually take one over a wagon.

I've also just realised that Rigs can't Tank Shock anymore, where Wagons can.

22? BSBoyz are 20 + 1 char. Why 22

Aaa screw the Tankbustas, push it to the extreme! Take more BS and try their detachement and be the first one every played it

The Tank shock is stupid. I agree. I was very sad when I saw it. In other case, there are some niche situation when antiVehicle is not also antiMonster…. ..

22 would mean 2 units of Snaggas and 2 Beastbosses.

I tried DBH for a while and it's so close to being good

Yeah, the change for the Rigs into Monster is a bit of a sidegrade at best, the main thing to note is that it is now eligible to be used for Heroic Intervention now, but I feel that's pretty situational.

'Ello, mates. I'm in the preliminary stages (read: I have some Trollet Kommandos on order and a mob of Stormboyz primed) of creating a small Blood Axes army, probably no more than 1k. I'm most intrigued by Taktikal Brigade; any tips?

The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.

Taktikal brigade is very character dependent since your detachment rules largely rely on pseudo-Guard orders being handed out to your units, which can only come from them, so you ideally want at least 2-3 character units spread out across your army.

Stormboy units are still most useful as 5 man units, especially since with Zagstruk being gone from the codex, they have no leader unit that can usually keep up with them that's worth taking. The Kommando change letting them split into 2 units of 5 makes them much more useful as infiltrators, but it also makes them much less capable of being ordered so you want to use them as solitary units as well.

Basically the main stuff that wants to actually be ordered are usually in this order:
-units your leader is attached to (e.g. Nobz, Boyz, Breacha Boyz, Beast Snagga Boyz, Tankbustas, Flash Gitz)
-Transports that are deploying said units
- Anything else that happens to be in range and hasn't received an order yet

At 1000, you'll basically want more substantial killy stuff as your core (so Nobz, Breacha Boyz, Tankbustas) with corresponding leaders of either Warbosses or Big Meks, ideally in trukks. Followed by filling up the remaining points with either Stormboyz, a unit of Kommandos and probably at least one unit of grots to hold the backfield objective.
