DoW allows you to deploy up to two troops units... not two troops Force Org choices.

A transport vehicle is a unit in its own right. So if you're deploying a unit with a transport, that's two units deployed.

So HQs can never be deployed in transports? What do my transports count as? Can I deploy my HQ in a chim and then a squad without a chim for a total of 1 HQ and 2 troops?

They can be deployed into the Troops choice transport with the owning squad, but if you want your HQ in their own dedicated transport, you'll have to keep them in Reserve.

Whatever they were selected as. A transport for a HQ is coming from your HQ allotment, so is a HQ unit. A transport for a squad of Troops is a Troops unit.

Nope. You could select a squad with a Chimera, and put all 3 into it. But without the squad, the HQ can't be deployed into someone else's dedicated transport.

Remember though that you aren't actually forced to deploy anything. If you want your HQ to have a transport, just keep them in Reserve.

I see... So in the ard boys game where HQs are worth 5, the transport is worth 5 as well? This will be big news. Also for this type of mission an astropath doest look too bad.

I'm pretty sure that dedicated transports (regardless of who they were chosen for) are worth there own number of points... I want to say it was only 1.

So how would that work for a DE army when you have a troop choice and a Raider troop choice, in which you have to buy the raider to have the troop choice>

How you purchase the transport has little to do with how you can deploy it... if I understand you correctly, you buy a raider and that enables you to buy... warriors? as a troop choice?

If this is the case, they are each their own unit, and you'd be more than welcome to deploy the warriors 1st and have the raider in reserves unless the codex specifies otherwise.

The Ard Boys scenarios were clarified. It's only the FOC HQ that counts as 5 points. Retinue, transports, etc. are only 1 point. Check the newest version of the scenario for the latest.

There is also a thread in the discussion forum.

And this isn't just for Ard Boys - this is how DOW deployment works all the time.
