I want my Dark Elves to look more like traditional Drow Elves (from D&D originally), with darker skin. Drow skin is typically depicted as grey or greyish-purple, but what colours would one use to make that kind of skin colour?

Picture for reference:

Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

I'd try a base mix of Elf Flesh + (Imperial?) Purple + Chaos Black, and highlight by adding Elf Flesh + White

Or, paint them with dark skin tones and add a couple of glazes of purple/black over the top.

Use Reaper's Dark Elf Skintone triad:

Washing the flesh with Asurmen Blue and also a bit of Devlan Mud might help, too.

I don't really have easy access to anything other than GW paints. I would use Reaper's, but I want to get these guys painted ASAP.

I was thinking of using Hormagaunt Purple with Asurmen Blue and Devlan Godsend Mud washes. Hormagaunt Purple is a nice light colour, but nowhere near as rich as Warlock or Liche Purple.

I think I'd be very subtle with the purple.

Unless you wan them to look like the "night elves" from WoW (which you shouldn't!).

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Mentioned above and dismissed because he does not have easy access to anything other than GW paints.

A gray shade mixed as a 75/25(75% gray, 25% flesh) is his best bet then.

Oh God no. I'd rather hang myself with my own penis than make them look like Night Elves.

So... how about 75% Tallarn Flesh (which is fairly light) and 25% Codex Grey with a couple of Leviathan Purple washes?

Cheeseelemental, I've recently been painting my dark eldar with a drow like skin tone and white hair. What I found works great is a coat of astronomicon grey over black primer, then just wash it with leviathan purple wash. It woks great! I'll look for a camera and try to upload a pick of one of mine.

How about trying to paint the flesh a purple color, and then highlight the skin with a light dusting of grey? I bet that would turn out pretty nicely.

You guys are all wrong.
Shadow Grey highlight with Space Wolves Grey then a purple wash then some elf flesh highlights and you are done.

The Drow are supposed to be Black skinned. They don't get pictured that way because it's too much of a pain to get it looking right in a painting.

I'd go with chaos black and a codex gray highlight and then hit it with purple or blue ink.

When I painted mine I just did black with a grey highlight and the red eyes. I didn't do the wash as the rest of the models were blue enough for me.
