I'm planning on making a small imperial guard force, maybe 1000 points, fluffwise they are meant to be a numerous but highly skilled fighting force to act as the basic frontline troops to back up my marine force (whether or not i actually battle with them is a different story)

i basically need ideas on what colours, what camoflague pattern and what conversion work if any i should use

my marine scheme is

fluffwise they are based on a gigantic ship, and number around 10,000 and have high quality gear, so yes, ideas please

Painting wise I am not sure, what world/worlds do they fight on,and what terrian is on these/this planet?
Perhaps if you are feeling patriotic you could do them up in Australian army dress(please excuse the fething huge pic) :

aha, was thinking something that declared their allegiance to the chapter, and they dont generally have need for camoflague, as they participate in lightning assaults, boarding space hulks and deploying fast and hard on the ground to prepare the battlefield for marine insertion

Paint them up to match the chapter? Black fatigues, white body armour?

Or reverse the scheme, to show that they belong to the chapter, but are not of it.

Or alternately, go to town and do whatever colours you want, and use a picture of the space marine above as the symbol on their shoulder pads.

Since they are guard, I would think that a light camo pattern would be appropriate. If you go with white armour and black fatigues, get a light gret mottling on the white, and a dark grey on the fatigues? Plus that colour group would fit in with fighting in urban/techno arenas and night/dusk attacks.

Why not just copy your marines scheme then?

Or if you would not like that perhaps just several tones of grey.

i think that is beneficial to my interests, probably black armour, outlined in light grey and then grey camo on the fatigues, im liking that, thanks dakka

and now, any ideas for the models themselves? it would be preferrable to have normal guard models but with full face helmets..dunno, ideas?

Perhaps because they work so closely with the marines of your chapter they might be an elite guard unit.Think SAS type special forces,or rapid assualt commandos.

that could work too, so basically an elite centric force, like kasrkins and such, maybe a valk once i save up

hm, the first one most defs, i see the models as kind of a mix between normal guardsmen and odsts, only because odsts move fast and drop from orbit fast but yeah, good idea cheers
