Bellevue WA July 21, 2009—Privateer Press reports that the release of the Monsterpocalypse Series 3: All Your Base Strategy Guide for the Monsterpocalypse collectible miniatures game will be delayed due to national security concerns.
Homeland Security pulled the shipment for an intensive examination last week when it arrived in the United States. While no comment was made to the nature of the investigation, several crew members within Privateer Press believe the government became concerned over some of the more radical ideals espoused by several factions within the Monsterpocalypse game.
Privateer Press Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson said of the investigation, “Privateer Press would like to extend its complete support to the men and women who defend our national security on a daily basis. However, I am confident that the investigation’s outcome will reaffirm the rights of free speech and protest of the radical environmental group Green Fury at the perceived devastation man is having on our planet as well as the freedom of people to practice religion without governmental oversight—even those religions which may very well bring forth the minions of the ancient Lords of Cthul.”
Wonder what they made to trigger such a happening! haha.

Weird. This gets pulled up, yet massive universe-altering Jihad in BTech doesn't. And yes, it's called the Jihad. One of the books is 'Dawn of the Jihad'. Not a word from the Men in Black.

You may laugh at this story, but in 1994 the US Secret Service raided Steve Jackson Games in Austin Texas and removed all their computers because they were about to publish a Cyberpunk module for GURPS and the editor had been found to be a (black hat) hacker.

The board game "Pandemic" was also delayed by Homeland security.
I guess there are two ways to look at it:
1) Clearly a Terrorist would never label a bio-attack "Pandemic" so it's probably safe.
2) If a Terrorist ever DID label a package "Pandemic" and then filled it with bio-toxin, and Homeland security DIDN'T stop it, they'd look like even bigger idiots.

Forgive them on their thoroughness and suspicion, thousands of deaths due to terrorism and the increasing threat of Radical Muslims must have made them a bit touchy. I am SERIOUSLY interested in what led them to believe there could be an issue. I am sorry but we were trying to be prepared hardly answers the "HUH?" question.
For what you are saying to work effectively we would need to live in a futuristic state that was essentially fascist. Yes, people want to be protected, but the U.S. government has had a pretty bad (yeah... pretty bad) reputation in terms of intelligence gathering for quite some time now.
If they didn't ease of on the airport searches, there would have been serious problems possibly leading to riots.
And this to finish...
Weird. This gets pulled up, yet massive universe-altering Jihad in BTech doesn't. And yes, it's called the Jihad. One of the books is 'Dawn of the Jihad'. Not a word from the Men in Black.

I guess you aren't aware that the SJGames raid occured in 1990 and was part of a raid on suspected telephone hackers and not terrorists. The editors has just been on some suspected Boards that had hackers on it for some slight research. The SS agents actually believed that SJGames was trying to publish a book on how to hack computers, which is why it was raided and everything was seized. But I guess you would rather just make a judgement without actually looking into it.
Look into it. It is a pretty decent example about how government agencies can do stupid things and take away belongings and freedoms based on little evidence.
