Isn't this due out any day now? Does anyone have any sage advice on it's likely contents?

Somebody put out an APB on Osbad.

A piece of paper that says "We're up about $4 to 6 billion, say that we're not going so great to justify 2010's price increase"?

they will probably use the news that it'll be 5 years until the "recession" is over... which in itself is kinda silly because its only the UK that seems to give a feck about it.
But with that aside. Yay more price increases with a slow but constant improvment in product quality, and manufacturing technology. Which has been getting there over the last 4 years at least.

Accounts are due out tomorrow according to their invetsor's page.

Their share price rose 20% last week, which would indicate that those on the inside believe the results will be good.

The big question (for gamers, and those resenting price rises) is whether any improved profitability is due to any increase in real (i.e. inflation adjusted) turnover (which would indicate the long-awaited "return to growth"), or just to more "short term" factors which will reverse soon enough - for instance exchange rates fluctuations which greatly favoured UK exporters to the US and the Eurozone over the last year, or staff cuts.

The June 2009 price rises will have had no directg effect as their year end is May (other than perhaps to bring forward some sales from those trying to buy stuff before the price rise came into effect - which is probably the reason they put prices up in June and not July, as used to always be the case).

We'll see.

Call me a cynic, but I've been in this game too long to get all excited about profitability in advance of being able to crunch the numbers.

Cheers

The share price is over £3.00, it's not been that high in almost two years. An actual increase in turnover (above inflation) will be big news, if it happens.

Same time tomorrow then Osbad?

We'll see. Last year it took me a few days to suck the meat off the bones, and I'm going on holiday in a couple of days time. I don't want to post knee-jerk reactions.

10:59GMT 27Jul2009-Games Workshop in demand ahead of results

------------------------------------------------------------

Shares in fantasy gaming company Games Workshop rise as much as 16 percent on optimism ahead of Tuesday's full-year results which the company said in June would likely be ahead of market expectations after better-than-expected trading in April and May.
"There's strong buying ahead of the results tomorrow," one trader says.
Altium Securities analyst David O'Brien, who upgraded his pretax profit forecast to 7.0 million pounds from 5.5 million in June, reiterates his 'buy' stance ahead of the numbers.
"We continue to expect the core business to trade better in the short to medium term and as such think that the risk to estimates remains on the upside -- as a result we retain our positive stance," he says.

Actually I've found that most people on these forums are quite clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. IMO Osbad knows what he's talking about, but everyone else is just spewing BS. So don't worry, you're not alone =p.

I might buy some shares as well, since I am impressed with the dark power GW has to make money. Then again I would probably start self harming at that point.

Indeed, with the investment we
have made in our state-of-the-art plastic tool making facility in Nottingham and skill of our design and manufacturing
teams, the quality of our new plastic miniatures are now superior to their metal counterparts. By charging what these
new models are worth, we can continue to invest in further plastic product development and quality improvements across
the range.

..hmm...uh oh !

Bonuses
During the year, the executive directors participated in a new bonus scheme which applies equally to all employees. The
maximum bonus that can be earned is £1,000 per person. No bonus is due for the current year.

..interesting..and good to see.

Finally, royalty income has increased from £1.7 million to £3.5 million. While we don’t rely on this income, it has made a
very welcome contribution to our cash flow from operating activities, up from £10.7 million to £18.1 million. As a result
we have been able to reduce our net debt from £10.1 million to £1.6 million by year end. Our banking arrangements are
in place until 2011 and our covenant cover is excellent.

Very good news indeed, especially about the royalties !

Debt paydown was excellent. They need maximum liquidity to survive the next nine months. Potential acquisiton time for them after that if they were expansionist.

Not keen on the shift of production to China. That was a key factor for me, supporting British (historical allies) and US manufacture. I won't buy Chinese goods if I can find a subsititute.

Only $1 bil portfolio? Dude, if you're gonna brag, at least make it something worth bragging about.

SON, I AM DISSAPOINT.

Just joking. Maybe. And besides you didn't post anything before I made that post anyway. Seriously look back and see if you actually see anything worth taking "stocks class" (I assume a simple class on Corporate Finance.) to learn about, other than Osbad's post.

You have to know how to read a balance sheet, which is year 1 accountancy. Then you have to interpret it and figure out what they are hiding, which is where various other financial studies come in handy.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...
