edit:

nope it's still difficult to out put in a basic forum format
unit x number + items = cost
unit x number + items = cost
unit x number + items = cost

this is a 1500 list with every thing in the output options switched off ie (hidden stats ect...) saved as a PDF and then copied and pasted to the forum text box.
as you can see it'll take a bit of work to make this forum friendly

They've had a save as text option for a while now. I use it frequently to post lists to forums and it works great for me.

i dont think that the smart phone made it in, just save as a PDF and use an APP to view it that way, works for me.

If you have a copy of the last edition with a valid, up to date license, is this a 'free' upgrade?

Yeppers. I wasn't sure if it was, but as I'm flush with cash right now, it was worth it to give it a shot. Picked up my license automatically and was a breeze to install. Uses the current 40k 5th Edition datafile and everything.

(So yes, I'm compelled to spend that $40 at my gameshop now).

For those of us who haven't...is there any chance of you guys unlocking the .pdf format or download to phone format? I have 3.1 so I'm familiar with the majority of the program. I'd like to be able to try out the new features to see if its something I want.

Alpharius the upgrade is free, I had version 3.1 and it upgraded free.
sarge It's not a iphone app. The pdf and Iphone formats are just outputs, you have to use the main program to make the list, then either print it out or make a html or pdf of the list.

I love Army builder.
once you use it you never go back! it's the only way forward. I use it before every game. so quick to make a list and print.

I just wish the output options were easier!
I can't find out put to text, and I don't want all the text, just:
unit name, squad size + wargear = cost

There's an option for save as text summery listed I here with the other save options. Saves it as a simple text file. This is what one of my old necron lists looks like as an example. I'd make something shorter but my comp is current out of service.

Have you tried going to the File menu and selecting Save Text Summary? The output looks awfully similar to what you presented as a suitably pared down format. You can also tell it to output to text, BBCode, or HTML. The BBCode output is well-suited to posting on forums.

The PDF output looks exactly like the standard roster output. What you see with Print Preview is exactly what you get as PDF output.

We'll put together a sample mobile roster and post it on the website. Then you can grab it and see how it works. Note that we'll need to utilize the Example Game System data files for it, so it won't be a 40K roster, but it should provide you with a solid idea of how the output will behave. If you want to experiment with a 40K roster, perhaps someone here on the forums can post something for you to play around with...

Mobile device output *did* make it into V3.2. You can access it by going to the File menu and selecting Save Mobile Roster.
