I second HBMC's comment on the terrain - very impressive.

Wonderfully painted armies too - a few close ups of those marines would be nice.

I appreciate that! Sometimes I think I enjoy making the terrain more than the models. To be fair, that large back bastion with the antenna and cliff was made by Ash (The Imperial Castellan player). He made it for our Apoc. game quite some time ago;

Thanks again.

I'll talk Mike into uploading a few of those Castellans on the site. There are some good close ups in our Apoc. battle I think (The link I posted above to HBMC).

Thanks for the comments.

Ok, I've read the report now (just ogled at the pic above while I was at work). Sounds like a fun battle, but highlights for me how certain options could be considered complete no brainers for certain sides - Forward Observer for Daemons is a big one, as is the ability to gain two Night Fights.

I fear that Daemons could be considered the 'default' attacking army in PS.

And, again, awesome table. Awesome minis. Do you have the actual lists by any chance, I'm interested to see how you guys put them together.

Everything was well done in the report, I haven't heard much about Planetstrike other that the FOC allows 6 elites

If you walk a mile in another mans shoes you will be a mile away from him and you will have his shoes.

Great Batrep! Well done to both sides. After reading that, I'm thinking of trying out some Planetstrike stuff...

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Thanks again for the kind comments. Daemons do indeed look pretty strong, both on paper and when we played. Forward Observer seems to be a no-brainer at this point, for anyone (Deep striking Chaos Terms w/ meltas that can assault the occupants afterwards....and reroll scatter? Yes please) I'll need to ask Mike to post his army as I don't remember it exactly. This is pretty close though (Note, his Marine army is not optimized for 5th yet, hence the assault cannon spam);

Marines:

Libby w/ Gate and Vortex of Doom

SternGuard unit
Dread w/ Assault Cannon + Pod/Beacon

3 Tac Squads w/ Rhinos

4 Speeders w/ Assault Cannons/Hvy Bolters

Land Raider
Dakka Predator

Daemons

GUO w/ Unholy Might, Cloud of Flies
BT w/ Unholy Might, Blessing of Khorne

6 man Crusher unit
4 man BON unit

10 man squad of Letters
9 man squad of Letters
10 man squad of Plague Bearers w/ Icon

Nurgle Prince w/ Armour, Cloud of Flies and Noxious touch

Thanks, I appreciate that! You should definitely give it a go, it's a nice twist on 40k. As I stated in my batrep, it makes units that normally don't look 'as' attractive...look a bit better (Chaos Terms, GUO, Nurgle Princes w/o flight, etc)

Well most of my Bastions will be showing up at my house today, and we're going to have a "Bastille Day" soon where we spend a weekend putting them together.

Between all of us we've got about 20-25 Bastions, so we can do some pretty interesting things with Planet Strike.

Definitely post your results. We mused about making a large group purchase to construct a mega-fortress but was unsure how well they would scale. Look forward to your post.

Mostly right, except:

3 Speeders w/ Assault Cannons/Hvy Bolters
2 Tac Squads with Rinos, ML and Melta
1 Assault Squad with Power Fist/Storm Sheild Sergeant

Wouldn't take Vortex again, too unpredictable and next time I would be sure to include some Assault Terms.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Very nice looking army, I love the color scheme!
