I went into my local GW store and the staff were all wearing black T-shirts with a chaos symbol an the front overlayed with the words "Everything you know is a lie" and a large Imperial Aquilla on the back overlayed with the words "The True Voice of the Emperor". I couldn't get any information out of the staff on what kind of insight could be gleaned from the new shirts so I'm a little in the dark. Any thoughts?

A massive change in the background?
Or the arrival of the emperor. So reality is a LIE and 40k the only truth.

People think it'll be some new GeeDub Podcast from their new rumors department.

The first time I read it I said to the staffer in question: "Why does that read like a sly dig at Dakka, Warseer, BOLS etc?"

I suspect something to do with "official" rumour coverage or something like that from GW.

I asked about the shirts as well and I was answered with:

"Everything I have ever told you is a lie. Those rules, painting techniques, and everything was all fake. But starting Auguest first we turned over a new leaf and decided to be honest."

This guy above is also my favorite Red (Black) shirt at my FLGS and he's always helped me. It's some promotional thing for the month of August I believe he also said.

A GW propaganda department spinning every little nugget that slips out, or that they let slip out....maybe.

It is definitely a sales gimmick and it has us all yakking like a bunch of old ladies.

Yeah, I can kinda see GW setting up a Podcast for 'Official Rumours'. Funny thing is what they'd call an 'Official Rumour' the rest of us would just call 'news'.

And yeah, the T-Shirts are a pretty pathetic swipe at TacoBell and USE TACTICS! Land. If they don't want rumours circulating maybe they should be a little more transparant about what you're doing.

People keep talking about these shirts but never seem to be able to get any pictures of them, I say they are just a rumor!

I hope it is in relation to the mystery box, and not the current rumours channels generally. Saying all we know is a lie is insulting really.

Other than the mystery box, or the podcast thing, my guesses are:

GW products ARE actually value for money

Price rises ARE necessary

All army books ARE properly playtested

Chaos Dwarfs ARE coming out

I'd like to get one of these T-shirts and replace the chaos star so it would read 'Games Workshop: Everything you know is a lie'

Especially considering most of the crap in the rumor mill isn't a lie. Sure, now and then you get the obvious bs from "friends of friends of red shirts who were best man at Jervis's wedding" crap, but there are people on every forum who are almost never wrong when they start spilling info.

It's actually gotten to the point where I'd trust the likes of Brimstone, Harry, etc. over on Warseer more than anyone at GW for that very reason: because GW lies (and often), and they don't.

Speaking of Brimstone, I haven't seen a lot of him recently. Maybe GW had him killed?

I don't think he's dead, I think that's just a result of the "leaks" being "plugged up". He doesn't have much to say anymore.

GW doesn't have the money to put hits on people, come on. They'd have to do another price rise for that.

ah, but they'd be lacking in grimdark, and like many posters on here, he'd probably look out of place in hottopic amidst all the 15 year olds with poorly done piercings

I'm sure there are a stack of really obscure heavy metal bands that have T-shirts that will fit the part.

I'm guessing they are OLD shirt's from when "Inqisitor" was going to be relised some years ago. Wasn't that the tag line back then?

they are just meant as an advertising tool for the re-launch of the website
they are meant to make you ask "what does your shirt mean" and the employee will direct you to a web terminal, register you, and enter you to win one of the prizes for registering (I could handle 1 of everything they release for the next 2 months!)

that's what the shirts are for guys
