Hmm. Wonder if I could use these to convert Empire Spears into Tilean Pikes? The shield design compliments it somewhat.

first shield has been left as it was, the one with the lion has been changed slightly:

and here`s the last one:

I`m also thinking about adding armoured arm on the backside, that will make attaching the shield to the model easier. You`ll simply cut the model at the elbow and glue the replacement that will fit the shields.
The question is - do you think it is necessary?
Would you prefer such arm to be separate (optional) piece or should each shield be casted along with such arm as a one piece?

I think at least a hand holding the shield on the back would be cool and also easy to attach at the wrist.

But, with that being said, if you didn't add anything at all people could just stick them on whatever figs they might already have.

I'd want these for some terminators though and those would be a pain for the 'average' person to convert since the terminator hands come attached to the storm shields if I remember right.

Too bad you aren't hosting your images on Dakka.
I can't see them from work, as photo hosting sites are blocked.

I'll have to note this thread, to look at it later tonight.

These are some of the nicest things you've done I really like them. The classical feel is something new which I like. I'd leave arms off as it makes them much easier to use for other purposes. A use I'd like to see would be on High Elves from Chrace and having arms on might make the conversion more difficult.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Wow, those are great. The meander-ish pattern border makes the lion shield especially great. I can't wait to see these on some Marines!

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Can we get a shot of how big these are on, say, a Marine?

My Crusading Marine Army is made up of three Chapters that have joined together on a Crusade - the Storm Riders, Iron Knights and the Golden Lions. The Golden Lions are virtually all armed with shields in some respect, and a Lion shield would be perfect.

Wow that Eagle would look great for my chapter that uses the FW Raptors emblem. Care to do a shoulder pad?

The bas-relief detail is especially good, and not heavy handed at all. Very nice looking shields. If they are generic then I'd put some sort of handle/strapping on the back. If they are not generic and will be part of a full figure, put the forearm on the back of the shield and have it attach at the elbow on the mini. That way you can sculpt the handle and any straps on the arm as they should be. On generic shields the straps and handles are often missing, and that looks horrible when the back of the shield is visible, as it appears as if the shield is somehow "magnetized" to the model's hand/arm.

Excellent! I was looking for some Greek-esque shields to work as Storm Shields! What size are they?

I also suggest some blanks for the freehanding types.

can we see the back of them , would be nice to have a hand holding straps pre sculpted as the big ones i bought before were basically a flat back and it was kind of disappointing for having such nice intricate front to model them. here is the vanguard i put one of the shields and painted as a tester. also the jump pack is from your company as well. pre ordered the round shields already, hope i can paint them up like the sample.

They are really nice shields but they do need something at the back. The sci fi one would be nice to see the groove for the viewing window at the back as well.
The new ones if they're the right scale would look great as combat shields for marines too.
