I will say this - there's no way I'd want to be a teacher, especially secondary / high school (I think this is the US equivalent) age. It's not that kids are disrespecting teachers, that's been happening for years now. It's more that kids are too worldly wise and many parents don't support the teachers or take any interest at all in their offspring.

I work evenings so I see my two on Monday morning before school, then I don't see them until Friday evening. We try to make the most of weekends and holidays and the wife makes sure homework gets done, but too many other parents don't seem to care or have any interest in their childs schooling. From your comments, I can see that your family is one built around love and making the most of quality time together - that's awesome and something that many folk out there can learn from and aspire to

Having said that, there are a few bad teachers at my kids schools - how they got the job I'll never know - maybe a lack of applicants or they are friends with the headteacher...

Take some time to vent, don't let it build up - that's the worst thing you can do...

The bad teacher hing happens here too. Teachers have to walk the line for five years in a single district to get tenured. After that they pretty much have to be caught molesting a student to get any sort of reprimand, or worry about losing their jobs. The worst part though is many of the good teachers get jobs outside the field because they can earn more, which leaves the new ones, and the ones that are resentful and bitter from years of not getting support.

I don't claim to be a good parent. I make sure they are ready for school, do their homework, they are fed, and they feel safe. I know I need to be teaching them more about God, taking them to church and having some discussions is good, but I was so much better five years ago about teaching them biblical principles.

I keep thinking that at least I'm doing more than my parents, but that not enough. I'm sure the rest of you parents know how I feel at one point or another.

better to get it all out than to let it fester that elads to wrinkles and ulcers and niether of those are pretty.

i do like your sycthes neat concept. personally i would want to see your mark iv in either raven guard or black templars...(im a sucker for some templars)...white scars would be interesting too.

Not a big Templars fan myself, which is funny because that was the chapter I was building in third edition, and have all the ltd edition box set. Might try raven guard, but would need to figure how to paint a flat black finish. I've seen a couple really nice armies here of them.

Really leaning towards sallies though, but I want a really dark pattern.

Speels on teachers!

I been a teacher, and I been a tutor, and I got to say. It is not fun teaching, to many just don't want to try to grab a concept. A phone screen is more interesting.

Sounds like you are a good parent, actually being there in their life.

I am sure you will find a job, dont give up.

I loved the original concept of black Templars, or first pics that I saw with all black with white shoulder pads. At the time I was about to try and make a Black and white Military police style marine army.They had MP's back in rogue trader. But then they expanded the black Templars with chains and doing a very gothic churchy feel. It just went against my grain, and it was around the time I got married and the gaming stuff disappeared for a while (years) into the storage room.

On the work side, I just got a call for a first interview. This is the first serious bite I've had in the seven months I've been unemployed. The position is in asset protection, and only part time, but could easily become more. The person for the second interview is on vacation until next week, and I leave for NY next Friday. After that is the third round of interviews. From talking with the HR manager they might be able to work around my kids school hours, so that would be a major plus in my book. They also are not concerned about my one night a week school schedule.

It was a relief getting at least the callback from someone, makes me feel like Im valuable instead of blackballed.

Congrats there Theo! Yes, the sad thing is, if you are unemployed, the length of time that you stay so hurts, but maybe now they are realizing that is a bad way to determine how to pick folks. OR that people are staying in jobs so they can't just steal them away so easily.

Marines don't believe in camouflage vik , it would be very un-übermensch of them. I've tried a couple schemes his morning before heading to he grandparents, none are popping out at me which is a good hing as I still have plenty of scythes to paint.

Can't remember if I mentioned I or not, but I found somebody to print my water slide transfers , should have them by next week, probably after I leave for NY though.

Have church tonight, unfortunately this will be my last Wednesday night service for a while as I start a class next week. Luckily my wife is done with Wednesday night games, so she will be able to go and take the kids to their bible study. God planned this perfectly, as always, as my wife's assistant coach needed Tuesdays free, and swapped her for Wednesday games.

Is all serendipity and synchronicity of the Universe is all Theo. What will be will be.

You have my sympathies on the teacher thing (being an English teacher and all), a lot of it's been covered but I think you're being pretty fair and reasonable about it all. It's a great job, but unrelenting (vid I am very lurky just now, and still haven't emailed you stuff); equally, as a parent, I want nothing but the best for my kids and would be/am enraged when their needs are not being met.

Also, on a far more serious note, nice tanks and related to that, it's really important to make hobby time. Remember we're very lucky to have supportive spouses: us boys do need a bit of playtime.

Thanks, I'm a reformed catholic . I'm taking it as a God thing. I prayed about it yesterday after venting, so I just need to remember to keep going to him, instead of making it happen myself.

@dave, Walter makes the show, he really has he character nailed down.
@vik, yeah, that's the problem, finding a chapter that hasn't been done beautifully. Even the scythes have been done before, and much better than what I could do. I saw he lava dread yesterday as well , its done well, but I don't go for the lava look myself, and the attack on black reach dread model is a killer for me, especially un modified because I've seen dozens of them .
@shaso, I'm drawn to ultramarines successors because they can be fielded any way I want. If I go bike heavy then I just say he captain is from an assault company, if I go flyer heavy then the captain is in command of the airwing. But if I choose a space wolf themed army I feel stuck, same with the closet angels, white scars or ravenguard, and to a lesser extent blood angels. With blood angels the only build type I dont see as normal would be a gun line.

On the job front I think I'm going to apply for head of GW legal. Seams the positions open and a few weeks ago Kirby said th type of people they wanted were (my words ballsy), can't remember how he put it but that was the gist of it.

I would first serve the US government for traitorous acts of heresy in their "revolution" and departure from the crown.
