first: i want to appologise to Penguin of death for stoling his idea ( in the work in progress forum)!
..........i m very fond of the P38 lightning of the second worl war so when i see the topic 'thunderbolt's big brother' i followed it .
i got the foolish idea of making a squadron of these.

using the plans Penguin posted and a friend of mine (cao-dao designer) we made templates for molding .
then i decided to use styrofoam for the core.

............ the beam is done so here is baby-doll my first twin mustang ( P40K) still WIP

.............. as you can see in the picture there will be a few version of this model
one seated , two seated , various weaponry( laser ,autocanon etc.)
still to do : gear hatches; cockpit ,wing weaponry

baby doll with her finished paint job and foxy lady just out from the factory

foxy lady version biplace avec 4 autocanons ( jumelés 2 a deux)

still some job to do

here some image of this project , now i consider it closed just some paint to do

i decided to make the cockpit in metal
here is the first attempt
baby doll got her new cockpit and some etching

still some paint to do !
here is the new version of the etching ( a little better)

one seated cockpit

two seated cockpit

That, I have to say, qualifies as shiny. Damn shiny!
It just looks like win on a stick

Lovely idea and good finish. But are these Forgeworld kits you're working from?? They look rough as hell, nice one for persevering.

That is totally awesome !

If you cast your own parts (not from FW) SELL THE KITS !!!

If you have recast FW/GW parts this is still awesome but you cant make any money :(

Well done though. they are very inspirational.

Nice work. The casting looks a little rough, but it's a cool looking plane and the cockpit canopy is made of win.

I expected something a bit different being a WWII aviation nut.

The P-38 lightning, and the post-war F-82 Twin Mustang are very different aircraft.

Yours are very reminscent of the P-38 with the twin engine booms and the central pod for a cockpit. The twin mustangs were two full aircraft fuselages connected by a common wing. As I had a dear freind that was a test pilot through the 50's, he said they were fun to fly- but the bonehead engineers didnt think to have one set of props turn the opposite direction of the others- so it always was wanting to roll and it was scrapped in favor of jets.

So, history lesson aside- I love seeing people make thier own models. Sure, theres some rough spots on your casts, but most of us 'garage' casters are still perfecting our techniques and doing what we can with the gear we have. Im gonna guess you dont have a pressure pot? The hoses going into the engines look like theyre trapping air bubbles, which is a nuisance

I'd be curious to see how you set the molds up, I plan on putting together some kits that will be multipart molds, so its always nice to look at the rigs other people have success with ^_^

And, how did ya pull off the custom photoetching?

everything is my own creation i use somes models to get the inspiration but all have been made by my little hands or my friends -intakes look like the Imex kit but were completely remade
the models you see were made with all the part that i would normally reject just to get an idea of the model

i explain i could not name it ligthning it allready exist,so i call it mustang as the name was not used and i add twin because it was two engine model and it makes a joke in french ( twin mustang---> deux chevaux) that's all

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

If you use a pure flyer, you can use them as "counts as" fighta-bombers in apoc games.
