3 Lictors

2X 18 Flesh Borer Gaunts

2X 8 Genestealers with Scuttle and Flesh Hooks

8 Genestealers with Extended Carapace and Flesh Hooks

10 Gargoyles

3 Zoanthropes with Warp Blast

Dave

Librarian w/ Avenger and 10 Terminators with Assault Cannons

2 Tactical Squads with Flamer, Heavy Bolter, Rhino

2 Dreadnoughts with 2 TL Autocannons

2 Landspeeders with Assault Cannons

Devastators with 4 Missile Launchers

Whirlwind

Allies Storm Troopers with Two Flamers in Rhino
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We forgot to bring the regular camera so you're only getting overhead shots with the write up and the time lapse. Sorry

Sol spread his forces out evenly along his front. I castled up in the bottom left hand side of the board because that was closest to the Gargoyles, so I could neutralize their speed a little, and the building was perfect for my devastators and hiding the whirlwind. The terminators were spread out in front of all this as an assault screen. The rest of my vehicles were towards the middle of the board.

So Sol rolls sixes for all his running and brings in a lictor and genestealers in to the game on turn two right next to my castle. I learn not to shoot at zoanthropes and their 2+ save.

Lictor, genestealers, one group of gaunts and the gargoyles assault the Terminators, who suffer only three casualties, win the combat and kill the Lictor.

The three other units to fall back toward the hive tyrant. These three units are then shredded by assault cannons, auto cannons, flamers, etc, and provide me with the first four kill points.

His remaining forces decided to ignore the Terminators and go for easier kill points. They badly damaged the dreadnoughts, bought one landspeeder down, crippled the other one, cracked open a rhino, and a hive tyrant eventually killed the terminators.
I took out a hive tyrant by sneaking up on it while it was locked in CC with a dread. I also caught a zoanthrope in CC and the libby took away the last wound on the second hive tyrant. He also finished off the second group of Gaunts.

Sol was unable to overcome the early kill point deficit because of a squad of 5 veteran devastators that beat a lictor in CC, a tactical squad whose sergeant was able to survive on his own, and an adamantium whirlwind that wouldn't give up a wrecked or exploded result.

This is my first victory against Sol and while I can (and will ) claim it, it had a lot to do with hive tyrants and genestealers being blinded by the Emperor's glory and rolling many many ones.
When will all you Chaos and Xenos players ever learn...

Hope that wasn't too wordy. We had a blast and will do it again next week.
Dave

Here's the time lapse--watch for the magical land raider that deep strikes into the middle of the battlefield. You know you want one!

Good battle report, love the timelapses, really puts everything into perspective. Nids look like they're good fun to play as, shame I have too many armies as it is lol

Killer job Dave!

That was a throughly enjoyable game. It was the kind of game you need to let unfold in your mind over the week between the next game. So much information to send back to the hive mind!

And next week, Planet Strike!

All painted and pushing 60,000 points combined.

LUCKY?!?!?LUCKY??!, THAT'S TZEENTCH TERRITORY!

Hopefully we'll be adding some video work and fluffy story type stuff to these reports eventually. If you watch the video you'll see the brace on my right hand that is preventing me from setting up lights and such for more dramatic photos. It's also preventing me from doing that at work...arrrgh.

But for now we'll just add some story to our next production.

Glad you guys liked it.

The overhead photos and time-lapse video are great! They give a much better idea of what happened than either written descriptions or diagrams. Post more!

It's funny you should say that

I was going to use an uuber Carnifex to spearhead my attack but a friend of mine who borrowed it could not get it back in time so instead I fielded the three Lictors:(

Imagine my joy when we rolled Annihilation for our mission (sarcasm)

Oh how I pine for a new Tyranid codex...

And Darkeldar...

And Necron..

Etc. etc.
