People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
I'm calling shenanigans. Clearly Kevin Rudd felt sorry for you poor English chaps and arranged for the teams to swap identities.

We won again? Always good to know. I mean, let's face it, considering we get beaten at every other sport, winning at the most quintessentially english one would be nice.
Baring a complete collapse ala the first innings, Australia has 2 days and all wickets to get 448 runs (we have done it before) or block spam and time waste for the draw. A few thousand dollars for time wasting is worth the Ashes.
If I was batting I'd be intently tapping down the pitch between every ball... 20 overs per day max. HA!!!

for the record WG, no team in the history of test cricket has ever completed a run chase of 546. In fact if australia had done it they would have set a world record.
Now then, sort the batting line up out, bring trott in on a test contract, pietersen on form, harmi a bit more consistent, start playing like they did this weekend consistently and bring on South Africa this winter!

It is getting easier, the record has been beaten a few times recently as pitches are lasting longer without deteriorating. South Africa recently set the new record in beating Australia at the WACA. This pitch was falling apart though, so it was never very likely we'd win.
But there was a record broken, as I don't think a side has ever won a test series with such a massive deficit on the average runs scored per wicket lost. I know cricinfo was searching for a greater deficit for a winning team.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
No, no team has gotten the score in the second inning to win.... but they definitely have in a single innings.
