My Wood Elf army list says I can take a unit of DOW as a rare choice.

Are there actually any rules for these, or is it just a throwback to earlier editions of the game?

Cheers

If I'm not mistaken, there's a FAQ that says you can still use the DoW rules as presented in Chronicles 2004, which is indeed a 6th edition publication. I run a unit of pikemen in my cludged-together Empire army.

It's a throwback to earlier editions, as some DoW options would be Special, or cost more than a single Rare.
