I recently picked up a box of Kasrkin that I want to use for Stormtroopers for a nice deep strike melta hit, but much to my dismay the box packaged with a flamer and a grenade launcher. After already paying top shelf for the Kasrkin's I don't really care for the idea of shelling out another $32 USD to get the 2 melta guns I want, so I'm turning to finding something else that has melta's that would look good on these without an incredible amount of cutting and sculpting (I'm not very good at either). Ideally, I'd like to chop up the flamer and grenade launcher that came with them and keep the other lasgunners intact. Has anyone else done this already? The biggest thing I'm concerned about is getting the old guns out of the models cleanly.

Well for the grenade launcher you could always glue a melta barrel to it, then add something to the drum to make it look like a meltagun.
If the flamer is anything like the regular IG flamer, all you would probaly have to do is cut the barrel and add another meltagun barrel, then make the fuel tank look more square.

Because GW is kinda ridiculous sometimes. I understand it's not a charity, but $16.50 for two troopers?

I got ALL of my kasrkins second hand, and as a result, have scored quite a few special weapons deals (I got 20 of them a couple of months ago, and there were 5 special weapons guys in that lot - all melta and plasma.). Oh, and it cost me $40 for those 20 guys (they were painted up like gak, and required stripping though).

2nd hand is always the way to go. About 90% of everything I own is 2nd (or more) hand.
A lot of it will require stripping but you get far more for your money in most cases. The only real downside is lack of bits, but some 2nd hand shops will sell bags of bits for relatively little (I got wood elves and CSM bits bags for about £3 each and the CSM one had enough bits to kit out about 70 CSM who were all missing at least one thing each with a lot of bits left over too).
If you don't do converting, that might be the way to go, otherwise look what you have that is simmilar to the weapon you want and just chop and change the barrels and ammo feeds.
