Latest Pics at the end Updated 05/06/10

Hi all,

I have been playing 40k and Blood Angels on and off since 1989.

I am an average player as I tend to mixes and confuse all editions together when I play screwing my tactics. When I was first getting into the hobby I could hardly afford any models and always dreamed of having a massive army.

Getting old blows but the secret to life is making sure you can give a mighty YES to the following question: Would my 19 year old self think I am cool? In keeping with this theme I am rebuilding my Rouge Trader/2nd edition Blood Angels to a 3000 point monster 5th edition army (hopefully before GW prints 6th edition).

So out of nostalgia and for the Emperor I submit this blog to my 19 year old self and all of you for motivation and critique.

I began this project last May and as of August 28th I have roughly 1200 points 80% complete.

Otto Von Furioso

In the YMCA!

It could do with a little bit of weathering and rusty and/or bare metal silver damage and wear.

Otherwise it looks pretty cool.

I am still figuring out how to take pics properly. Otto seems 'cleaner' in the pic than he is in RL.

Here are some more WIP pics. None off the following are done

Brother Corbulo conversion

Death Company

Assault Marines, peeved that someone has not attached their packs

Tactical SM WIP: for some reason he due to my lighting he looks shiny but in RL he is flat.

Rhino with and without extra armor

I'll post more later; now I need to play the ultimate wargame with my kids: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorry!_(game)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Hear are some Veteran Sergeants without Eyeballs but Power Weapons. They are magnetized so that the packs, arms, and heads can be swapped out.

The Rhino chassis is also magnetized.

Great idea with the magnetised Veteran Sergeants. I'm also impressed with the screw grail!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Just starting Blood angels. I now (with Space Hulk) have nearly 2000 points (with Inquisitorial allies). I have about 1800 points left to paint. And a 2000 point Plague Marine Army....

Thank Mjolnir for leaving school early O.o'

On topic, looking awesome, and magnetised or not, you are a gamer man than I with the holding upside down of the models >.<

Man, thats bravery right there, holding an army upside down .

I like the models btw.

One thing about your paint scheme is that the red looks a little, sort of, block colours rather than progressive highlights. IMHO it could use at least some extreme edges highlighted on the power armour (though this can sometimes give the games workshop 1990s cartoony look some people despise).

Yea the first few pics are a bit distorted due to the lighting... I was still figuring out the camera.... I need to get some newer ones up .. the Chap Dread has clearer transitions but its only about half done... the VS with the power Weapons are mostly finished now (eyeballs and all

And I do despise the cartoony look

Is......is that a.....heart on his chest? I'm assuming its a blood drop and either my comp is distorting it or your camera is. A carebear stare at 72" would be a little overpowered dont you think?

That said...and more seriously, I applaud your dedication and I too hope that my younger self would give me the proverbial thumbs up. Your models look fantastic and your painting is very clean.
