Was just wondering if you can use forgworld stuff for GW events? Also wanted to know if your local gaming group allows forgeworld stuff?

Models yes, rules no.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Our group allows anything and everything because FW units do not require permission to be used (any more than any other unit in any other army, etc. etc. etc. not going into that again).

Tournaments are less likely to allow FW units because of a perceived advantage that they give (which is nonsense - most FW units are utter junk and your army would be worse off taking them), but you should always check with the Tournament Organiser first, as it is their word that determines what you can and cannot bring.

Most are underpowered, true - then you have units like the deathstorm and new version of the dread pod that are not quite so.

I don't know of any hard and fast GW ruling for events that allows or disallows them (it's been that long that GW has not run stuff here that it's more or less irrelevant for us.

The Deathstorm doesn't strike me as all that impressive. It can shoot your own units and its BS2. Ooooh! Scary!

And that Dread Drop makes for an interesting change. You are paying 15 points more for it and losing any weapon it had.

And the deathstorm has just been revised. (IA2 update 1.3 out last friday).

Most tournaments do not allow FW but there are a few.

We allow FW rules. Most FW units are underpowered or overly specific. They do add some nice variety though.

The only thing that we don't use is flyers as they are very powerful if you're not equipped to deal with them.

Does this mean I wouldn't be allowed to use FW Heavy Bolter Turrets on my Chimeras at, say, the 40K doubles?

Thanks,

Check with the tournament organiser, but I'd say "no".

Hmmm... FW... I find that most people don't mind FW stuff but it is annoying when you come up against something you've never heard of before. Can anyone explain what a Tau Tetra is?

It's a two man, light scouting skimmer.
Armament is a markerlight and pulse carbines (twin linked, iirc).

Lighter version of a Piranha. Without the offensive capability.
