So, getting out of high school after a long friday and a LOOOONG week today, I walked out onto the grass to wait for the bus. It was homecoming, so it was only me waiting for the bus and 4 kids who were sitting on the grass chatting, and the principal, who always sees people off. As I left the building I asked the principal if my bus had come yet, he said he had not seen it, I thanked him and walked outside into the sunshine. I then saw my bus approaching, gave him a thumbs up, and walked towards the place we usually wait, where the bus always stops and picks up boarders. I was the only high schooler riding that day, though there are usually around 5.

Except that didn't happen this time. Sue (the driver), just kept going. I looked around at the 4 kids sitting there, as if to confirm that had just happened. I then took off after the bus, i was able to cut it off before it left the parking lot, and started waving like "hey, you forgot me, and you're my only ride home!"

Sue just leaned out the window and yelled "you missed the bus!"

That's ed up. So I started walking back to the school, to call my mom for a ride. I noticed the principal talking on the phone, and about the time I got to the lawn he hung up and told me he had talked to someone who would send the bus back, I thanked him profusely and waited.

Sue took about 5 minutes to come back. As she arrived back and actually stopped this time. I hunched my shoulders and I apologized to her, she gave me some condescending remark about my loligagging or something, and I told her I was on the lawn when she drove past. She responded "I know, I saw you."
She saw me. And just kept going.

It should be noted that every time I get on the bus in the morning I smile and cheerfully say "good morning", and say "see you tomorrow" every time I get off. I know she has a tough job, and I try to do my part to make it as easy as possible on her. I don't think the cheerful greetings will continue, I will continue to give her the respect she deserves as a human being, but I will no longer treat her like someone I would like to know.

Am I in the wrong to be mad at her over this? Really, in the time it would have taken her to stop and open the door I would have been standing there waiting, had I jogged a little bit. And she does get paid to do that after all.

Thank Odin for my Principal.

First, good thing you thanked the All Father. I do it too. He rules as a God.

Second, there could be a vast incalculable polynomial as to why she didn't stop and was being a cow. Off the top of my head, driving a bus full of school kids would be enough to make even a living Saint want to commit homicide from time-to-time. However, you must let that anger burn over you in order to make your spirit stronger.

People freak out over the smallest things regularly. They are not as strong spiritually as they'd probably like to be and are obviously dealing with things beyond what their personality can permit. To be able to take the anger, turn it and try to empathise with the other person will in turn make you better and stronger. Of course, being upset is one thing, but becoming angry is another.

Give it some time and you'll see that she remembers you and what she did and will treat you better. No point in freaking out.

Hope this helps.

Well just be glad the Principal was there and saw it. You can be sure that whomever he called to get the bus to return for you gave Sue a good reaming for just leaving you there, not once but twice. I would continue the greetings, let her know that even though she was unkind to you, you don't hold it against her, and in the end, it's not worth being angry over for long.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

IMO she was in the wrong, but driving a school bus is a crap job. So go easy on her, okay?

She works a crappy job so she's allowed to be a jerk to random people? I've never understood this thinking. If you have a crappy job and don't like it, change jobs, don't take it out on people.

In any case, that fact that she pulled it in front of a principal probably means she got hers already. Staying mad over it won't really accomplish much. However, in your situation, I'd probably be pissed too if someone pulled that crap on me. So to answer your question, no I don't think it's 'wrong'.

Lucky you, I lived 1 block too close to school to be on a bus route and the only time I could get a ride to school was from my older sister's boyfriend, who would usually have two or three beers drank by the time he got us there. Here's a training film that will help you deal with her next time.

Round by me, if you run after the bus they just keep on driving, and if the driver sees you they just shake their head. That's public buses though, IDK about school buses.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I probably should just let it go and forget about it. After all, if I let myself get mad over it, it only harms me.

Yea its best not to get too worked over something like this since not only can you not really do anything about it but its pretty trivial in the long-run.

Like mentioned earlier there could've been a whole list of reasons, perhaps she was just having a bad day herself but there's no denying that her decisions were malicious and intentional (and definitely worth some consequence, stuff like that gets bus drivers fired after all).

Congratz to being the bigger person here and not stooping down to her level and just be glad that soon enough you won't be riding on yellow buses anymore.

Strewth I'd make the most of that youngman (the principal helping that is), what old one eye gives... he sure as hell takes away the next time Mind you if you end up in the great hall at the end of it, no problem!

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Being angry about this stuff is natural, that is one authentic bitch if I have ever heard of one.

Be angry, but move on, much healthier than denying the fact that you even have anger. Emotions are not as easy as thoughts, though they often stem from the same stimuli. Denying emotion can do more damage than accepting it.

Just do not talk to her, nods and guttural noises often work quite well. Yes, Maam, No Maam, Yes, Sir, No, Sir... and so on, just live with the cards you have been dealt; remember that you are working with a full deck though, and be grateful for it. It helps a lot.

She should be fired. It was inexcusable and completely inappropriate. Your parents should call the school commissioner. I remember once driving to work I saw two school busses speeding and they both ran a red light. I was able to follow them and get the bus license plate numbers and bus ID numbers. I called the school system that day and both drivers were fired that week. The students told the authorities that indeed the drivers were driving over the speed limit and both ran the same red light.

Probably a good idea... Not too sure about that though. The driver can clearly say it was a mistake, and long day etc... If she does something really inappropriate with a figure of authority in full view, the blame is on the authority at that point as well, and clearly so. These things can get awfully messy, and winning isn't always a realistic option.

Notifying the proper authorities will help to ensure it does not happen again.

She sounds like a complete witch to me. Just ignore her completely next time you get on the bus, and if she drives past you again in retaliation, tell your principle. If she continues to do this she'll probably get fired. Its her job after all. She's in the wrong, not you.
