I have seen alot about Raveners slowly being removed from GW sites.
I have wanted 2 units of 6 but unsure what to do.
Do I buy them now before they disappear?
Will they come out in plastic? If so what if they look worse?
Will they get removed alltogether?

Not sure why they are being removed from the site, maybe filtering them out for a replacement?
May even be the end of them, but im not sure.

If this is the case, then i have 15 i may throw on ebay lol

With possible tyranids coming in February they must be filtering it out fro the new plastic one???

Supposedly many units are being no longer sold in preparation for new versions when the new tyranid codex comes out, supposedly early next year. I would bet plastic raveners would be released as there is indication that a plastic trygon will be released as well.

That's the only thing I can think of, since it was pointed out a while ago that the Tyranid battleforce and codex isn't available, either. Of course you'd never know if that's what they were doing or not because they won't tell you until January (assuming the release is in February).

Just a quick note here, but making your own ravs are somewhat simple.

Base model - Tyranid warrior
Arms:
Top set - Warrior talons
Middle set - gaunt talons / Stealer rending claws (your choice)
Bottom set - stealer talons

Making it more rav like:

Cut the tail from the waist section and re-position it at the bottom, heat the plastic (hair dryer works, but if careful a flame does the job) until its easily bendable and re-position it as needed.
Use GS to build up the tail and make it longer and slightly thicker.
Add a tail tip (i use a gaunt carapace piece with 2 talon tips to make the pincers)

This takes around 10 mins to do and looks pretty good, ill throw some pics on here later tonight of some.

But that's exactly the thing, GW hasn't really told you a damn thing. We're just theorizing that those models are going to be obsolete because GW sure as hell isn't going to tell you until the last minute.

I mean yeah, the fact that they're not selling them anymore is pretty damn telling, but still. Would it be so wrong to at least drop hints about a possible new codex instead of just pulling models off the site?

Keep in mind that Daemonettes on steeds were pulled long in advance of the new Daemons codex, and there is still no seeker of slaanesh model.

With Robin Cruddace writing the new book, and already having one army 'involuntarily restructured' I will advise against any purchases until that codex is released.

Raveners *might* become cool, but there's an equal chance that they will simply go away.

'IF' the trygon is to be the tyranid super-heavy plastic, then I would suspect that the Ravs would be redone in plastic kits to accompany it. Or that the warrior kit is redone to incorporate it as a build option.

Raveners now come in blisters, so it is also a possibility that they will be "repackaged" in boxes of 3. So you'd have to buy three of them at a shot if you wanted one.

I agree with Currentus. Could be them preparing for a Boxed Release as opposed to Blisters. Cheaper to wind down what stock you have than open and re-box the Blisters.

Enjoy the Tyranids while you can, boys and girls. Because when the Codex comes, it will be a shadow of its former self, just a heap of arbitrary changes for the sake of change.

Guard players thought that a lot of their bad units changing would be good, too. It ain't gonna end well, trust me.

They are coming out in plastic in January (source is withheld)

Screw plastic Raveners. I just finished getting 12 together in metal.

Actually, Raveners, the codex, and the battleforce are listed on the GW website right now (and as of this past week, they were readily available at my FLGS). If they are pulling products in anticipation of a relaunch, they haven't done it yet.

*EDIT: I now see that when you click them, they are listed as "Unavailable" or "Ships in 2-3 weeks". My mistake.
