So I've joined another form post! Its called the Heresy
online and is alot different to Dakkadakka. Only just joining

Soz this post is a bit short I just thought I'd tell you guys

It's a younger audience but they do have a good fluff section there, even if the arguments do get a bit ott (I once saw someone use the harvard referencing system on a black library novel to back some fluff they were trying to prove).

Heresy Online has all the fluff nazisim but somehow a quarter of the intelligence of warseer. I patrolled it for a bit but left when I realized the average poster is about 12 years old.

I've always felt forum elitism was one of the saddest things on the Net and those who did so really needed to take a long hard look at themselves.

This thread hasn't changed that opinion.

It's not about elitism, it's about review and critiscism (constructive or otherwise) I don't really visit Heresey Online but Warseer is definatly promlematic, It greww VERY large, and wasn't fully able to cope and as such it is full of whiners and fluff nazi's....not that dakka is immune, but it's not as bad, unfortunatly there's no such thing as a forum where there is no hate....

Warseer is what it is, a very large hub of the Wargamming (if mainly GW) community.

Its a great place for rumour, and its not really that bad a place, (I've seen much worse.)
The main thing about the place is they don't tolerate the kind of trolls that lurk on other forums.

Tbh I will admit I have issues with some mods over on Warseer as I think they are too strict in their responses sometimes. Although with the ammount of users they have to deal daily with I'm surprised any of them last that long and it probably explains some of that.

I've also been a Mod on a forum, and although I enjoyed it, it is a pretty thankless task and I don't berate anyone who does it. Its surprisingly time intensive, one of the main reasons I stepped down on the forum in question.




Regarding the OP - Yes I have and do frequent Heresy Online. It is a pretty good GW based site, has a growing community which can bring its own problems.
There are many members over there which are very friendly and will give sound advice and welcome new users if given the chance. Most of the Mods are a friendly bunch as well and not seem as heavy handed as some other fan sites.
I have also been involved in three very succesful gift exchanges there, something I'd not seen elsewhere. (Although I admit I may have missed them.)
I also like the rewards system and the rep system, as it shows who contribute more than just having a high post count.

Its not a bad site, probably in the top five GW fan forums tbh.

Let's just all recognise that there are many styles of forums catering for different types of users.

What suits me might not suit you. It doesn't mean either is a bad forum.

Dakka isn't really about criticising other forums. I'm not being elitist or aloof, just saying we have our own furrow to plough and we would like to leave the appreciation of forums to their own users.
