Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

I would like to know how the DA went form being native american mystics to emo warrior monks. When did that leap happen? Did they just want to scrap the fluff but the name was too cool or what?

Yeah, they were Native American in first edition, around the time of that novel, but they got changed to the 'Monks' background in mid 2ed. There used to be a Dark Angel commander model with feathers on his armour, IIRC.
The 'official' explanation would be that, since the Dark Angels recruit from lots of different worlds as they float through space, it just happened that THESE particular DA were from a Native American theme world.

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.” |

What do you mean "used to be"? The current Commander model has feathers, too.

Hmm. This fits into the current DA fluff perfectly as the powers that be keep "stealing" their rules and giving them to new chapters . . .
Always trying to keep us down.

But the official explanation has loopholes. Are you telling me that the majority of the Deathwing first company were all from that native american homeland?/
I used to like the DA when they were native american types. Now the whole emo monks keeping secrets thing just sucks. Also that old fluff does not tie in with why they still have white armour now. So they freed their home planet from the taint but I gues caliban did not exist then

Dark angels did free their home planet of 'taint' (beasts etc) its just it ended up getting retainted by those who were made to remain behind when the lion set off to join the emperor in his crusade. Course we all know what happened to caliban after ....it got turned into an awesome flying fortress of death bwhahaha!

I believe the way it was explained was that "those" Dark Angels freed "their" home planet from genestealer taint. So yeah, we're supposed to accept that most of the Deathwing was from the same Native American themed world...sure it has loopholes, but there's no use fighting the system. The Man wouldn't be The Man without someone to hold down.

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Think only one fluff book written, ie ends with Luthor sent back after showing first tendancies of cracking under his jealousy of the lion
In that book they another knights templar style group, without the arrogency - clear planet of nasties etc etc - from wht I understand luthors turning of caliban to chaos forcing the lion to destroy it (wth DA CSM escaping before then) led to them being 'unforgiven'
Also there was a keeper of the codes secrets whose title was 'cypher' - perhaps that means cypher character in curent 40k is trying to achieve the more secret DA missions?

They never seemed to be native american to me besides the feathers. They should of have animal totems and spirits and such as part of their theme
