I'll quickly add that I loved DoW 2 as a game, but it and Dow 1 are so unlike one another that it's impossible to compare them BEYOND atmosphere, which DoW 1 was certainly superior at creating (just compare the main menus!)

While I hate Cyrus too, I have to point out that you clearly haven't seen the DoW I video about 'Spehss Mehreens'

But then I point out that Soulstorm wasn't developed by Relic and is generally held to be a pile o' crap by most DoW fans

I'd say Dark Crusade was the penultimate point it reached... but I would have preferred a linear campaign.

DoW2 has great voice acting. It has so many different sound clips, there is a clip of each unit identifying each enemy unit in each type of cover that is played occasionally when you engage the enemy. That's intense.

I haven't really picked up what the fuss is about with cyrus (there was a "ask the space emperor" post on him too. It was funny, but I didn't get why). What is the joke and why?

Because all he does is whine and complain and talk about how they're all going to die when the bugs come to nom them. Pair that with his "Combed over one eye" emo hairdo and you have the recipe for a loser

He's supposed to have been some grizzled veteran in the Deathwatch, but rather than come to hate the alien... he instead comes to the conclusion that he must bed all Tyranids... always reminding us of how hopeless it is to fight them etc, this is of course, when he's not listening to Cradle of Filth in his room on the Battle Barge which I've taken to leaving him in...

Though I did use him in my 2nd campaign... just for the stealth-healing at endgame... heh...

Generally the banter on DoW 2 just annoyed me; Tarkus would say something and then Avitus would be pointlessly b*tchy about it; or Thaddeus would say something naieve about helping the people... and Avitus/Cyrus would be like PEOPLE ARE CATTLE FOR THE EMPRAH!

Oh... and Avitus just saying "The Guard suck"; and you just wish you were there to say "THAT DIDN'T STOP 'EM PWNING YER ARSE AT VICTORY BAY, EH? HO HO HO!"

If you think the voice acting is bad you should have seen the acting full stop on the Final liberation game or the inquisitor film that was made!!!

Welp, glad my Dawn of Awesome cartoon has already been spammed in this thread

Dawn of War II overall had better voice acting than the DoW expansions. Dawn of War I vanilla and Winter Assault were mostly okay, with the exception of the Chaos Lord.
