And yes, you can play online. You can even find zombie servers, RP servers, racing servers, build-for-your-life servers and so on and often all you have to do is join the server and the necessary files are downloaded for you.

Yeah, two or so years ago Valve bought Garry and his stuff. Too bad they didn't add in that bit of Valve magic.

Valve has actually very little to do with the development and design of Garry's mod, they merely publish and distribute it (and take half of the profits).

The difference between GMod9, the free version, and GMod10 is that Garry decided to pay up to get access to the Steam developer SDK.
And then, because of various license reasons, you have to pay him to get to use it.


Of course.. there are ways to avoid having to pay to play but I don't think we need to discuss those
