Ok just been looking at GW's site (UK)
i know i've not been in the hobby for a few years having just picked some stuff up again but what the hell happened to mail order?
can i still order single sprue's of things?
individual componants and metal bits and bobs?
have they removed this function alltogether?
do i seriously have to buy whole box sets just to get the bits i want?

or am i just being dense and not seeing the wood for the tree's?
wasn't sure where to post this, hence its here.

No, other than some specific bits that they do as individual or sprues, the old bits service is no more.

Online stores such as Battlewagon Bitz and others a couple of years ago killed GW's bitz ordering service. So they decided to offer direct only bitz which are not offered wholesale to stores but only through the big catalogs.

Since when did they stop that? About the time they completely lost their goddamn minds. Again.

Yeah, yeah, yeah; it was a positive decision for their business I'm sure. But it was a complete and utter cock-up for modelers everywhere who use their gak. And yes, there are other sources. Doesn't stop it from being a gak decission for the end consumer.

when they decided that they did not want several hundred dollars a year from me. There was nothing as inspiring, and ultimately as costly, as looking at the massive all inclusive catalog. I have units comprised of nothing but bitz order figures...

I would like to say that it was just their loss, but frankly, I enjoy the hobby less now.

i'm just so shocked, i mean i wanted to go out and grab a ton of different sprue's and go converty wild! not to mention add some uniqueness to my army.
can't believe i can't do this anymore, i guess i'll have to go somewhere other then GW for this then, damn i remember induction day you went round the foundry with a bucket and picked what you wanted lol. wish i could do that again now.

It's not you - I remember thinking the exact same thing.

There are a handful of bits and sprues available separately. The list is growing but still quite small (although they do seem to be sticking to things that are genuinely useful)

It is obviously a money making scheme, pay more for less.

The only bitz things available now are things that can be useful in a massive conversion.

It's especially annoying if you collect any army that still uses the 16 models to a box format (High Elves, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Dwarves, Orcs, Tomb Kings, Chaos etc), because it was handy to be able to pick up those extra four miniatures on one sprue rather than buy another sodding box.
