I had a few mates around for an evening game of 40k the other weekend, we got about half way through the proceedings when our attention started to move from our armies to our stomachs.

I sugested getting food delivered from the local kebab house which everyone seemed to approve of as they do just about every type of takeaway junk food you can think of.

However, when I said i would be having a kebab pizza I was met by stunned silence and looks of disbelief, apparently I am a savage and what I suggested (mixing kebeb with pizza) was bordering upon the sacreligious

So I was wondering what are your favourite wargaming snacks and beverages, the more unusual the better!

it's too hard to eat properly while gaming, so I try my damnedest to keep the two seperate. We'll often go for a late lunch between games (Sundays noon to sixish is the usual hangout), but since our FLGS is on a relatively main road (Main Street proper, in fact), it's not too hard to find a restaurant that doesn't have an entirely garbage menu. I'm already packing more pounds than I ought to, no sense exacerbating the problem!

My Local GW is right near the food court, so we have a fairly large range to choose from. Generally Kingsley's or Chinese.

Normally though, I game with a big smoothie/fruit crush thing

Whatevers easiest, we've had chips n dip or pizza or curry or chinese whatever we fancy, everyone delivers.
The important thing is copious amounts of beer and some decent music tho!

I always find it hard to keep things on track when beer and wargaming meet! That coupled with the fact that several drunken fat men and lots of little toy soldiers are a recipie for dissaster!

I normaly just stick to coke and and haribo for snacks

The main benefit of the beer+40k is that after a few, you really don't care who's winning and it's all about the fun.

Beer and pizza while gaming is pretty damn good, especially during a day long apocolypse game!

Also if things get one sided, you introduce the great leveler, for every enemy (or at times for every guy of yours) who dies, thats a digit of beer.

Now who has that all infantry guard army?

actually during our day long games back in 2nd ed of 40k (yes we had that much back then too) we used to hit the local chippy near my m8's house, problem was they served HUGE portions and we were so damn sleepy afterwards we didn't want to play.
3 way 10k apocalypse style battles done using 2nd ed rules. the HTH alone took half the day

Food comes down to a few careful questions: does the store allow food? snacks? soda? are we playing a guys house? in general

If its at a gaming stores....
Beverage: vitamin water, has flavor, some sugar for taste, no after taste
Snack: candy bar, simple effective.

At a friends....
Beverage: guinness. great for a 1-2 hour game.
Food: pizza, pasta, chips, whatever, but I actually cut the pizza to reduce mess, and eat with a knife and fork unless there are food breaks.

At a GT/tournment.... (if allowed)
Beverage: cooler with guinness and water, i usually bring a lager/ light beer as an option to offer an opponent.
Food: candy bar, non messy snacks that won't leave a residoo on the hands because i like to shake hands and introduce myself, but don't want to make a mess or leave a sticky palm on the opponent.

Tournment Record
2013: Khador (40-9-0)

In my club everyone brings some snacks for everyone to share. one guy even bakes awesome cookies every month. I usually bring a bag of Combos for me (too good to share) and a bag of doritos or pretzels to share. Folks bring cases of soda and beer too. Also around dinner time we all place a huge order from a local pizza/sandwich shop for greasy dinner food.

Now that I'm low carbing, I guess next time I'll have to just bring a bucket of beef jerky...

I was like that with WoW at times. Now I've cut back quite a lot.

Alcohol of some kind whenever possible (dunno why, its just fun lol).

After that, usually pizza, Chikfila, Subway, stuff like that. If its just snacks then usually Chips or Reese Sticks (they're sooooo amazing lol). It is literally the only time I eat anything that isn't fresh lol.

Pizza is king.

When it comes to more of a snack thing, then it's cookies, chips, or whatever baked goods I can find around the house.

I strongly suggest you not to eat either Cheetos or Doritos though. Cheese dust + painted miniatures is a recipe for disaster.

Boring old Dr. Pepper, Kit-Kats, and/or beef jerky sticks.

Occasionally we go to fast food for a burger between games. Nothing too exciting.
