Subject: Why the Emperor caused the Horus Heresy

I've been thinking for a while, and I have come to the conclusion that the Emperor actually, indirectly, caused the Horus Heresy, thus turning the galaxy into the GRIMDARK hell-hole it is now. Here is how my theory goes:
The Word Bearers' Primarch Lorgar was a priest on his adopted world, and as such, whenever the Word Bearers took a world for the Emperor, Lorgar would spend a good deal of time converting the world to Emperor worship. When the Emperor found out about this, he scolded Lorgar, and Lorgar decided that he needed to do penance. In this time, he was told of the Chaos Gods by his most trusted lieutenant and best friend, and he converted the Word Bearers to Chaos Undivided. Lorgar then made it so that Horus would be wounded in battle, and would be able to be more easily convinced to join the forces of the Dark Gods. Then the Horus Heresy happened, which killed trillions, and put the Emperor in a state where it was necessary to put him on the Golden Throne.

Well done you just released something which is obvious from the first chapter of the second book.

Technically, Lorgar caused the horus heresy then. The emperor didn't force Lorgar to do anything. He scolded him for doing something he didn't want Lorgar to do. It's Lorgar's own fault that he over-reacted.

Well, I knew that the False Emperor's pet pyromaniacs would show up sooner or later, so I brought this. My fire extinguisher:
MWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Lorgar was a priest on his world and not long before the Emperor's arrival, predicted that the planet's god would return soon. When the Emprah arrived, he immediately swore loyalty to him, thinking him his god. I personally see no real reason the Emprah isn't, what with being immortal and ridiculously more powerful than anyone else. Yet for some reason the Emperor denied it and told him to shed religion, which had been his life. Now he knew that the Chaos gods existed, but he did this anyway. Naturally, the Chaos gods were more than happy to accept his worship.

I figure it's like Leto in "God Emperor of Dune" where he basically sacrifices himself to ensure Humanity's perpetual survival, and refuses to see his own demise so that he doesn't lose his nerve.
The trick's on him though. Leto's clairvoyance didn't require tapping into a realm of Dark Powers whose very natural is inimical to Humanity's interests and survival.
I figure the Dark Powers snookered the Emperor like they snooked Alpharius: good intentions that were subverted by methodology. Where the ends justify the means, the ends can be subverted by the means.
Remember that part of Horus Rising where they encounter the interex, and the interex officer comments that the Legions have come like the agents of Chaos, bulky and warlike? Or the secretive actions of the Alpha Legion? Or the slow breakdown of legion morale as the Primarchs succumbed to hero-worship and self-aggrandisement?
The Astartes' repression of religion simply drove it underground so it could infiltrate them unrecognizably. Ever notice that two of the 'Higher Mysteries', the Reclusium and the Librarium were retained by Loyalist Space Marines, despite these offices originating in the Word Bearers and the Thousand Suns, respectively? The Loyalist Space Marines are simply walking a well-established path to damnation.
Heck, take the Cabal: During Legion they keep regretting that they weren't willing to annihilate Humanity while they could, but are now willing and unable. The fact they're willing to use violence to pursue their aims shows how far they themselves have fallen. And they were the ones who acknowledged that the Primordial Destroyer would be the ending of all things.
Remember, the Horus Heresy was an instance where the Chaos Gods put aside their differences to co-operate for a common objective, with Slaanesh concealing the plot and promoting the self-aggrandisment and pride of the Primarchs, Tzeentch guiding the plot and fostering the development of secret lodges and clandestine knowledge, Khorne promoting the violence with which the Great Crusade was prosecuted, increasing the rate of attrition and concurrent loss of institutional memory (hey, ever notice Iacton Qruze was originally Terrain, and somehow transformed into a Cthonian by Galaxy in Flames?), and Nurgle promoting the slow rot from within.

Dammit!
BACK! Back-Foul-Red-and-White-Beast from the Red-and-White-Truck!
On topic:
The Space Marines (mostly) believe the Emprah to be still a man.
Anywho, you'd then have to define GOD. Is the definition of god a 'powerful entity/force'? IF so then the Emprah and Chaos gods certainly fit. But by an omnipotent, omnipresent then no. The chaos 'gods' may not actually be gods at all. Merely extemely powerful, sentient forces.

Meh, Lorgar should'nt have thrown such a bitch fit and followed orders. Heresy = his fault.
Question: So if SM see the Emprah as a man, what do GK see him as? Who started calling him the god emoroer? Is the Emprah an allgory for God? Sanguinius = Jesus, Horus = Lucifer? Put that in your though box and smoke it!
Btw I think the chaos "gods" arent gods at all but the 4 most powerful daemons in the galaxy. Daemons are trying to pass them selves off as gods all the time, they gots big egos.

Agreed.

No, IF it was an allegory (which I doubt) then Horus could not be Lucifer, that would be the Chaos Gods. Horus may be more like Judas or something. Anywho, apart from a big betrayal there really isn't ALL THAT MUCH that can be related to each other.
As for the GK, were they not raised in the time of his existence? So they would see his as a man. The Ecclesiarch says that in his ultimate sacrifice, he became more. A symbol of the divinity that mankind could aspire to.
Btw I think the chaos "gods" arent gods at all but the 4 most powerful daemons in the galaxy. Daemons are trying to pass them selves off as gods all the time, they gots big egos.

I dunno space marines = angels of death, lucifer/demons = fallen angels ie. horus CSM = fallen angels
I'm totally putting my own spin on this I know. But its a good conspiracy theory. I've always got an Imperium=holy roman empire vibe from 40k. Orks = invading barbarian hordes, tau = asia, eldar = greeks, dark eldar = hedonistic greeks, necrons = egyptians, tyranids = hell if i know. I'm full of conspiracy theories, and good at looking waaaaay too into things. Seriously i can crap this stuff out endlessly, ask me about JFK, i dare you lolz.

Based on your post I just figured it all out- Tyranids shot JFK! At the very least a Genestealer Cultist. That's why they don't fit with the rest of the theme you've laid out.
Or maybe Tyranids are emblematic of 100,000 screaming Commies coming over the hill. That's how I've always seen them.

Anywho, people believe what they want to believe. No amount of reasoning will help the unreasonable. (Not nameing anyone here as unreasonable BTW)

Emporers faithful@ Most Space marines belong to different cults in there chapters, pre-heresy the Lodge was the worst cult out there.
The sisters think of the Emprah as a good, so do most space marines and the Inqusition.
I wouldnt be suprised if some Imperial citizens didnt beleive in the Emprah!

Seriously, the first thought I had when I saw the clip was, "That man has got to be a ninja".
My second was, "Where the hell was the Secret Service? That could have just as easily been a grenade! Remember that guy in France who tried to blow up an airplane by putting a bomb in his shoe?"
