Heavy Weapons teams actually aren't all that good because of no ablative wounds. If they get shot by str 6+ weapons its an insta kill or if you take 2 wounds you lose a heavy weapon, while heavy weapons in squads have 8 or more ablative wounds before you lose the heavy weapon.

However, Eldar Heavy weapons are so over costed compared to dark eldar though. The Eldar Bright Lance Grav platform is so over costed compared to the Dark Eldar Dark Lance in an infantry squad. The Eldar Bright Lance Grav platform can move and fire but still thats still not worth the large increase in points.

You mean support weapon teams?

There's an ongoing thread in Proposed rules discussing this already. Here's a link:

GW moved away from Horde Guardians in this codex.

So your true anti-infantry troops are your Dire Avengers.

For everything else, you have to turn to the Fast Attack, Heavy Support and Elites slots.

Therefore, you won't see gunline Guardians without the support of an Eldrad and an Avatar, and
even then you won't ever achieve the volume of fire that a Horde IG army can bring.

Guardians fill an odd role in the current Eldar Codex.

I don't even think Guard will get HW's like Guard have now next time around.

Use the metal ones. They look better anyway.

They get different weapons, and the ones in the guardian squads count as assault weapons as well. IIRC guardians have to take the platform anyway don't they?

They seem to be similar enough to the Heavy Weapons Squads. Unless you meant as if the Platform worked as a model by itself with the Guardians on that base. But at the moment the guns aren't really much more than a counter to show what weapon they have. It might be a good idea and I think it would work better than trying to get the opponent to remember what two Guardians are the crew.
