Okay, while reading the new sphess Wolf edition of WD, I noticed this in the news section:
White Dwarf Said:
If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise...Especially if it's one of the dark forests that cover the Old World
Does this mean we could be seeing Beastmen early 2010 ?
Discuss.

Small chance we might see them for Christmas. Tiny chance like, but I think the Space Wolves were mentioned in this way just a couple of months ago?
If not, definitely 2010.

I doubt it Skaven will be the last armybook/codex this year and some 'wave releases' possibly near Christmas.

Nice!
I wasn't aware that they were due so soon.
Though I do wonder what shape the list will be in, after the 3 that were once 1 (kind of) will then be 3 'distinct' lists...

Well, we've got some WotR crap coming up that looks fun enough, Skaven in November and December is always nice for something, I'm hoping for plastic daemon goodies or more Guard stuff, but I hit my head on the cupboard today so no, that can't be it.

I've heard some stuff about this from a few other unconnected sources as well. From what I gather, it's scheduled for mid 2010. Don't take that as granted though, as we all know how fluid the GW release schedule is.

If they hint at it now you can expect it within three to four months, that's how the magical casting fairies of GW work. January or February 2010.

Awesome.
The basic infantry are one of the better WHFB kits out there: hope they don't waste effort on redoing that sprue. I'd say that decent chariots, plastic minotaurs, and a new Doombull are the low-hanging fruit we're pretty guaranteed to see.

I'm hoping for Ork Wave 3 soon. New buggies/trakks. Last of the special characters (Wazdakka, Zogwort). Maybe a new plastic big gunz kit with all 3 weapons. Maybe a plastic dread and kanz. Maybe a plastic multi-piece warboss. Or even plastic meganobz.

I'd lean more towards March.
plastic minotaurs
hmm.. what a good idea.
Last I heard the book, like much they do these days, should have a fairly retrotastic vein in it so I'd expect a bigger focus on the cows and Shaman.

If reds8n says March then March 2010 it is!
I guess this means that December, January and February are for WotR and random wave releases then.

I believe Feb. time for Tyranids and March for Beasts.
I'm only reasonably certain of those dates at the moment, and this is of course the GW version of those months so.. first quarter for them though methinks.
There's talk of all manner off odd releases next year, I believe the usually golden Mr. Harry on warseer made at least one post with reference to a Dragon of some kind. I'm assuming he means a plastic one but I've heard rumour of FW ones for Karl Franz and Malekith so might be for them.

I had a Beastman chariot horde under the older rules (not the WD update), which was pretty fun if a bit one-trick. I wonder whether it'll become viable again.
I haven't really kept up with WHFB since the latest edition nerfed skirmishers (march-blocked within 8", there goes most of the value of light infantry. That's what you get letting a cheesy Brettoian/Skaven player write the rulebook...). Does anyone have a prediction about whether chariots will be core for beasts or not?

While they are a nice kit, I would love to see the ungors separated out so that we can buy more of one than the other if we like. (Edited to add: The hand weapons in the beast herd kit are ridiculous, and need to be toned down. I was making my own two-handed weapons for my bestigors, trying to keep them in proportion to their bodies. And the two-handed weapons were often the same size as or even smaller than the basic gor one-handed weapons. Given the way GW's aesthetic seems to be going though, I'd expect things to look more unrealisticly ridiculous, not less.)
My personal wish is that since people keep saying the Beastmen are supposed to be modelled on Pre-Roman Germanic hordes, I'd like to see a lot more options for thrown weapons in the list. It would just be very characterful.

Cool. It's nice to think that us Beast Players may finally get some love.
As for a wishlist: Bump our base Leadership up. These guys regularly fight alongside trolls and Minataurs, yet the basic trooper is only LD 6.
Let Heroes take Chariots. If you're running a chariot list in lower points game, it's annoying to have to pay the points for a decent Generals bodyguard on foot.
Make Plastic Bestigors, Chariots and Minataurs. These guys are three staples of most Beastmen lists.
Keep the Strengths in the unit the same. By that, I mean if you're going to make the Unit Champion S4, make all Gors S4.
Get rid of the 'Generals mark defines whole army' system.
As Johira said-Some shooting, even if It's just Throwing weapons, would be nice.
Keep the options for all Minataur or all Chariot armies.
However, this is what I fear they will do-Move Chariots down to special, completely scrapping all Chariot lists. Unless, of course, you buy the £20 new Lord model, which has to take a bodyguard of a unit of at least five chariots (of course, chariots will still be metal).
Get rid of the Chaos undivided mark.
Get rid of the all Minataur army with a Doombull option, unless of course you buy a special charector (although, a Minataur special charector would be nice).
Completely bugger our half-decent Magic weapons, and replace them with rubbish ones.

I'd like to see plastic minotaurs, plastic bestigors that can have extra bitz to make em look good for for any god, and maybe plastic centigors too. A plastic chariot would be nice too. But I'm sure they will also want to make a plastic lord/hero kinda kit that can make shamans or beastlords or something like that.
So I'm gonna get done my new imperial guard stuff just in time to start buying new nids and beasts :( I hope I get a good tax return ....
