Sorry if this is on the wrong board. PLease move if it is.

anyways

I was given some metal models this evening and I am going to take the paint off to start fresh. I have never stripping a model before. I know somethings will break down platic but since these are metal do I have anything to worry about? I planned on just throwing it in some nail polish remover but if this is for some reason a no no please feel free to chime in.

Thanks

I’ve one word 'Acetone'. It'll melt plastic but wont harm metal at all, also it dries with no residue at all.

Dip the model in for a few min’s remove and scrub with an old tooth brush if any paint remains repeat process.

You should be able to get pure Acetone from a pharmacy. If not nail varnish remover often contains Acetone in a lower concentration so longer soaking will be required.

There may be other products out there but this is what I use.
