Ok so the update I planned for last night was foiled by a Photobucket outtage. Here goes. I spwnt a little extra time designing these guys so I hope ya'll like 'em....
First up is a WIP 1K Sons carapace for a warhound:
As much as I like that one I am very open to suggestions. Next is some grapevine filigree for a Legio (Pre-Heresy) Custodes warhound. I have had the idea for grapevine filigree in my head for months and finally figured out the best way for me to do it. What do you think?

tell you what max... the only thing that i can bicker around these pics is that you could have shown the decency to show´em not upside down... really mate... how can we apreciate to the fullest how you can sculpt with plasticcard in such ways if it is all bottom up??? but on a more lighter side... the body now reminds me a bit of an old and very ornate fregatte...the stern done in beautiful handiwork... that is truly some master crafted armor...
and the thousand son´s carpace... i am looking forward to see that soon... all this detail will look totally excellent once someone gets it to be painting...how thin again was that piece of PC again...preferrably in mm?
Absolutely beautiful ornamentation although I have an observation and its something I haven't attempted but I will have to on my titan's forehead surface.
The FW model Mars Warhound hull armour has what I call a compound curved surface i.e. an elliptical geometry that I have not seen attempted on any scratch built Mars Warhound.
Now I take C & C a request for constructive comment and constructive comment with out a solution is so much verbal flatulence so to obtain this compound curvature have you tried heating a 1 mm sheet of styrene and forming it on the surface of a large sphere such as a bowling ball?

Not sure what you mean by upside down.... But ok.... The ornamentation is something that I thought was fitting the Starchildes personal guard.....
This is done in .030" thick PC.
The actual grapevine filigree is in .030" solid rod curled by hand. This actually sucked getting it even. I threw away several attempts over about three hours work. I stopped working on it nine times out of frustration and almost went back to the drawing board twice....

I have considered it but the compound curvature there is difficult to reproduce and I think that the overall lines are served just as well with the simple curvature I currently use. Considering the magnitude of what I am trying to accomplish, I am willing to accept a 90% solution on the shape of the carapace. It isn't optimum but will do...
And, I think for a warhound it would be more a softball size arc.
Yes, the Warlord will require a compound curve but I have faith in your abilities, Black, and anticipate it's construction greatly.
I have always said I want these to be as close to the real thing as possible but certain aspects, I feel, are superfluous GW/FW details or attributes that can be "manhandled" a little and not kill the aesthetic. Much like your handling of the DSBoLS Warlord stuff that you are taking liberty with. I suppose it helps that there is no production model for you to have to adhere to but the beauty of the DSBoLS is that it is the seminally accepted representation of that particular titan. Not having so much up close and personal pictures of it lends to your need to improvise (or as I see it - innovate) certain details. Not so with a Mars pattern Warhound. I am constantly taunted with photos of builds of the original and detailed shots of each piece and I have decided that I am unable to perfectly reproduce it. Just attempt to get really darn close........

I know I'm not up on all the imperial nuances, but the eagle seems upside down to me. I would think if I were standing eye to eye with this thing that the eagle should be the other way around.
No matter what, it looks astounding. So beautiful. Very nice craftsmanship!
