I recently started playing Chaos Daemons (woot). One of the BEST things about the army is the versatility in designing it. After looking through the Dakka gallery I got inspired to make my own stuff. Here's my idea for a Keeper of Secrets

Update: added another pic

The body is based on the original GW model. The head is based on Anima from FF10. The horn on his head is a crescent shape to represent a symbol of Slaanesh.

What do you think so far?

The essence in the design of Anima , is a crazed bounded creature constricted in pain and bandages and chains.

Having KOS model with limbs flailing around would not look suitable.

Basically ask yourself this question " why would the KOS would have a bandaged head ? would it be only on the head? whats the theme im trying to apply here onto the model ? "

etc etc

What made the design on anima work is this. Ifs a powerful creature basically all bounded up , with its head the only place
it uses to release its berserked rage. Hence the banadage is very useful in dramatizing the eye peering out of ( thats where the attacks came from )

AH good point! Yeah I forgot to mention the reason the head is covered; it's to cover it from mortal eyes, hence the Keeper of secrets fluff.

Most of the projects I've seen for Slaanesh daemons are mostly female in nature, so I'm thinking of making the body male in shape and the face a-sexual and covered in bandages to hide it's identity (and add to the fact it's true nature is hidden).

Thanks for the comment

Erm, I disagree, Slaanesh is up to all kinds of freaking things and a Daemon wearing a bondage mask or restraining, chains etc would be in keeping with Slaanesh.

Cenobites from Hellraiser are easily in the same theme as Slaanesh. I think this can work, if you have the ability to do the sculpt.

Ahh perhaps another type of concealment method would work better if the purpose is to hide something.

I would suggest veils or burka , or anything thats not bandaid as it looks too similar to lepers / nurgle.

And i disagree with you too . Chain and restrains can be seen in 2 ways. The dominant one , or the one been submissive hence S&M .

If OP is trying to convert the model to look like Anima , it will NOT have the same effect. Here is example to what i mean OP , chains goes both ways
[Mod Edit - No.]

Thanks man

Therein lies another problem my ability to sculpt. I think I'll be able to do it, but he may end up looking more like Brak from Cartoon Planet in the end.

Yeah I was thinking about that too ...of course it'll look different when finished. To clarify the bandages will look like black leather straps adorned with gold studs bolting it to the head. I'll get to work on a colored version

Here are some good example of masks:

Imagine any of those covered by something like this: ( and an exposed glowing eye with objective source lighting effect )

FIRST - If you like the wrappings and chains and such go for it. Those dont HAVe to represent ANYTHING other then they are bandages and chains. I think your drawing looks pretty damn cool, and would make a fine KOS. Also, I loved that boss in ff10.

SECOND - LUNA! WTF!?! Eye shields is what I would of needed from you BEFORE seeing that picture. Thanks for that.

I hear Slaanesh daemons are really into bandage.

And I missed the picture apparently.

Thanks

I'm still working on a better version of this guy. Here's a vectored version to kind of show coloration. It looks cartoony, but that 's the best I can do in Flash without a pen stylus lol.

Lexicanum wrote:Each of Keeper of Secrets has a unique appearance that mirrors Slaanesh's mood at the time of its creation. Their looks can range from terrifyingly haunting but almost human to bestial, though all are tall and lithe with long claws and limbs and a crown of horns that sprouts from their head and intoxicating eyes that look like black crystals

Reading through some fluff gave me the idea to make a slightly different version. I'll add some better artwork then start the design portion and turn this into a WIP.

Any suggestions are appreciated

This made me laugh so hard.
On topic, I really like that sketching. Even if Luna says anything, I think it's very cool and who cares aout fluff anyways.
I'd love to see that modelled and painted!

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!

Hmmm....very interesting idea, I really like the concept you're going for. Am I the only one who's thought of Voldo as the perfect candidate for a Slaaneshi army?

I think it's a cool idea. You don't need a fluff "excuse" to make a model the way you want. This is Painting and Modeling, not "Fluffy Models."

i like the concept art.
one thing that might be interesting to do, is to have bandages around more of the body, with perhaps symbols written along them, you know, wrapped in ancient knowledge or somesuch

haha yeah I was thinking the same thing. Voldo shares a lot of those bizarre qualities.

My goal is to have this piece tell a story, so I want to incorporate as much fluff into it as possible. I'm hoping to strike a balance between the original theme and my own creation. I'm hoping people will look at it and think "wtf is that" lol

Thanks for the comments.
