Be assertive, be-be assertive!

If you ask once and they ignore you, best thing to do is look at them and repeat, "Hey" increasingly louder until they look at you in the eye. Once you have their attention, say firmly (like you would a misbehaving dog) "Do not touch my figures without asking."

It's all in your tone.

LunaHound has a point. If you look at them sternly, they will get the hint.

If not, then just ask them to not touch your models. Short of severing their fingers, that is all one can really do.

If it gets really out of hand inform the shop keeper; perhaps they will warn the person to quit it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

Ask the shop manager to hang up a sign saying "Please do not touch the models without permission. Damages will be charged for."

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Kilkrazy has got it, right there.

But you are right with saying it's all in the tone etc.

On the other hand, if they persist you could tell they guy/ kid's parents exactly how much they cost and how much they'll have to pay up (including paint job) if their little brat breaks anything.

Make sure you ask them to stop in a loud clear voice, enough for other people to hear.

If it's during a game, ask your opponent for support, or make sure you reposition them in a position advantageous to you:
"I'm sure that's where they were, before we were so rudely interrupted".

Start rifling through their pockets and bags.
If they complain, tell them 'not to be so serious!'

Ask the staff to stop the perpetrator from damaging/stealing your models/spoiling your game.

Then bring it up with him. If nothing happens, inform them that if the issue is not addressed in X amount of time that you will neither support nor frequent their shop anymore and will never recommend their store to anyone else interested in the game who asks you. If they won't listen to your words, they will most likely listen to your wallet. That sort of behavior is unacceptable and the store should do something about it(unless for some reason they condone it). If the staff isn't paying attention to its customers, then that's not a store you should frequent. They're a niche store, they live and breath off of word of mouth and regulars, losing one or both will hurt them more than warning a few kids not to touch other people's stuff ever will(their parent's should have taught them that to begin with).

Sadly there will always be people who through either gross stupidity, genuine naivity or just plain ignorance, feel that it is fine to touch someones stuff without permission.

In truth if you are taking your stuff to a public place there is little you can do, for the most part these "touchers" will merely be curious and quite careful. A quick "please don't touch that" normaly suffices.

There are however a minority group who have no manners and are likely to throw a wobbler and damage your miniatures if you ask them not to touch.

Now apparently it is frowned upon to hit them with a pool ball in a sock or to stab them with a rusty bread knife.

Unfortuanatly the only way to ensure your miniatures don't get molested is not to take them out in public.

Is "some guy" actually employed there?
If he is, then he is responsible for what happens in the store.
If not, the boss is just asking for trouble, leaving his store 'unattended'.

There's probably some insurance clause, Health and Safety law or such that could leave him financially crippled, and possibly in court, if anyone got hurt! Even if it was an "accident" involving a deffdredd in its travel-bag that looks like a sock ...

Denial

The approach I use if you don't mind making a scene is loud tone booming voice but not screaming, " HEY WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?"

Mind you do not do that if they are already holding because after you startle them it will make it to the floor.

I have used this before it works well if you do it before it happens.

Of course they respond, "I wasn't gonna touch it."

Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

Be as passive-aggressive as possible. Gamers are infamously passive-aggressive so when they realize you're being PA they'll respect you more and stop touching your models. Also be sure they're not passive-aggressively touching your models otherwise that might cause a Van Smoot loop and result in the implosion of the store or someone whipping out their junk on a table.

Im plagued by them aswell, if they ask i dont have a problem but if they dont it drives me mental. admittidly i rarely get the chanec to play a full game and flgs these days but when i do it drives me mental with people picking my models up, without permishion and start critising them. i got very cross and now whenever some one trys to pick one up i just say "can you not touch that, its being used atm" or something along the following lines

BEST THING I HAVE HEARD ALL DAY!

Curse you Sushicaddy for beating me to it!

I have had this problem. Usually a quick (and semi polite) word puts an end to it, this guy being persistent despite this is bothersome.

As for the whole
"Don't be so serious", it would worry me. Just Sayin'

So the guy watching the store, is he an employee or not? i know this was asked.
As for owners responsibilities - i wouldn't bring that up if you want to keep having game night...

I'm hard pressed to think of an English term for this, but 'Kill Aura' sums it up pretty well - and sounds dead cool.

Strategically place pins on your models so people that pick them up get a little jab.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

From a technical standpoint, the most accurate translation would be "Murderous look", although I know that that doesn't fully convey the meaning.

I agree its a bit different from just a look . For example when i was heading back home from filming with my cousin we bumped into a drunk guy on the sky train.
He was yelling and cussing about police arrested him for public drunkness . An off work transit guy asked him to settle down , and the drunk guy yelled + cussed him for few minutes.
Then my cousin plopped down to a seat opposite side to the drunk guy + drunk guys 's gf and smiled at them.
He didnt say a single word, he just looked at the drunk guy and smiled , and i have to say that 殺氣 is so bad that the drunk guy's gf quickly got off the chair and pushed
the drunk bf away and kept apologizing to my cousin , and then apologized a bunch more times when they got off the station.
Only way for me to put it into words is like a border collie herding some sheeps .
